STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity was incorporated under a Memorandum of Association on 11 April 2011 under the name “The Beatson Oncology Centre Fund” (charity number SC011740) and is governed under its Articles of Association.
Appointment of trustees and decision making
As set out in the Articles of Association, any new charity trustees, who are also the directors of the company, are appointed by the existing charity trustees. Any new trustees would be assessed for any initial training needs prior to taking up the role and all new trustees are taken through the role and the charities main activities. Ongoing training of the trustees is provided as required on an annual basis. The trustees are responsible for decision making.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The constitutionally stated purposes of the charity are as follows:-
“ The company's objectives are the enhancement of health, education, science and scientific research and teaching in the treatment of cancer and in related sciences and in furtherance thereof but not otherwise the company shall undertake the following activities:
-
receive voluntary donations and funds arising from active fundraising which shall be expended at the entire discretion of the trustees for the said objects; and
-
provide amenities for patients and staff which would not be provided from Exchequer funds.”
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The charity was dormant throughout the year.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The charity was dormant throughout the year and, as such, maintains reserves of £nil (2024: £nil).
FUTURE PLANS
The charity will remain in existence for the foreseeable future to allow any significant unexpected donations or legacies to be received. The Fund will be formally wound up at some point in the future.

The company was dormant throughout the financial year.
For the year ended 31 March 2025 the company was entitled to exemption from audit under section 480 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to dormant companies. The member has not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.
The unaudited financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies’ regime.
