Financial Review
Offering income fell by 6.5% on the previous yearfrom £146k in 2023 to £137k in 2024. reflecting
a dedine in our congregational roll. The previous yearfs income also included a legacy £25k from
the estate of Mrs Chrtstina Byme. These iwo factors were the principal reasons tehind the
reduction of £32k in our donalions and legacy income against the previous year.
Income from charitabfe activibes fell below the previous year by £2k due to reductions in the
number of baptisms, weddings and funerals against the previous year. Income from hall16ts also
fell by £2k over the previous year as a consequence of reduced activty of two hall user groups.
The largest items of exFthJiiure were our GMrKJ to Grow allocation" heating and lighting., rates
and Insurance. and fabric experKlibJTE whith o)l￿bVe1Y comprised rn of all our costs in
unrestricted fuThJs.
Of this. however. the cost of installiF¥J a new t￿atIng system in the sanctuary during the year
accounted for 25% (£62k after VAT recoveries from the LPOW scheme). We are grateful to the
General Trustees of the Church of Scotsnd for their support in awarding us a grant of £50k
towards this.
The new heating system largely accounted for the increase in totsl expenditure on unrestrict&J
funds increasing from £172k in 2023 to £251k in 2024.
On our restricted funds, totsl in(x>me of £70k expenditure of £192k almost wholty related to
our Legacy Proprt which was set up to create a sustainable estate to enable Greenbank Church
to continue as a Christian centre of worship for future generations. Ino]ud￿j in the income figure
were grants of £25k and £Sk frorn GarfEkl Weston and the Bellahouston Bequest respectFvely.
The overall effect of the above was a deficit of £9k on unrestricted funds and £122k on restricted
funds during the year.
Reserves Pollcy
It is the Trust￿. policy to hokl reserves as a contingency against unusually large and
Unfore￿able costs principalty. although not excfusr¥ety. with regard to the fabric expenditure
required to maintain the thurch building, as well as the manse and halls. At the year end the
church held unrestricted fijnds of £63k vthith represents approximately 4.2 months of our totsl
expenditure on unrestricted funds in 2024, exclE*Jing the non recurring cost of the new heating
System. The church also held £363k of restricted fijnds at the year end as outlined in note 12 to
the acGounts. which fUr￿S can only be used for the wrposes SF*￿fied.
