.The Trust is set up for education in the history and traditions of the Maitland Family Clan and for the restoration and maintenance for the public benefit of religious buildings connected with the Maitland Family Clan. The Trust can also collect and preserve documents, books, pictures and photographs recording relating to the history of the Clan and to publish literature or carry out research about the traditions and genealogies about the Maitlands.
Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'
Objectives: The Trust hereby created, and together also with the whole income arising therefrom from time to time (all hereinafter referred to as 'The Trust Fund') shall be held by the Trustees in Trust for the following purposes:- (One) For the advancement of education of the public in the history and traditions of the Maitland Family Clan (hereinafter referred to as 'The Clan') and (Two) For the restoration and maintenance for the public benefit of religious buildings of any Christian denomination connected with the Clan. And for the purpose of furthering the foregoing objects but not otherwise, the Trustees shall be entitled to:- (a) to collect, maintain and preserve documents, books, pictures and photographs recording or relating to the history and traditions of the Clan and its branches. (b) to acquire and preserve property and relics of public interest, including works of art, poetry, music and antiquity connected with the history of the Clan. (c) to prepare and to publish literature of all types, films, or recordings in relation to the history and traditions of the Clan. (d) to carry out research into, correlate and publish Clan genealogies and to compile and maintain a Roll of Clan members which shall be available for inspection by the public. (e) to acquire and maintain a place or places in which all such documents, books, pictures and relics may be preserved and made available for inspection by the public, such acquisitions to take place either by means of purchase or by lease or by virtue of any other arrangements as the Trustees in their absolute discretion think fit. (f) to provide residential accommodation on terms determined from time to time by the Trustees for members of the public whether from the United Kingdom or overseas who wish to increase their knowledge of the Clan, its history and traditions.
