Members of the Kirk Session and the COng￿gational Board are the charity trustees. The Kirk
S¢ssion maniKrs are the elders of the Church and are chos¢n fr(Mn those members of the chU￿h who ar¢
¢on5iderryJ to have the appropriate gifts and skills. Th¢ Congregational Board is appointed from within
the congregation and members of the congregation are invited io nominate individuals who are beltevcd
to have the skills and commitment to contribute lo the management atTairs of th¢ Church. to become
memt*rs of the Board. Board members are then apwinted at the Stated Annual Meetin8 and serve ft)r a
period of three ye8TS after which they must seek reole£tion at th¢ next Slated Annual Meetin&
Board members may be c￿0p(ed during the year and such ethoption shall be rntified at the subsequent
Annual Meeting which will be considered to be the stsrt of thetr thre&y¢ar terni of office.
OrggAi8atioul Stru¢ture
The Congregational Board is chaired by the minister and meets for regular business monthly other than
April, July. and Au8wsI. Tr Kirk Session also meets on the same monthly b&sis and is ￿spOnsible
for spiritual affairs within the Church. Certain responsibtlities are delegated to various Working Groups
including Worship. Finance. Communications, Property. Social & Fcllowship. and Mission and
Stewardship appropriat¢. The Board and Session may be ￿1¢￿] to meet for spe¢ial business as required.
Obje¢dve and A¢tivities
The Church of Scotland ig Trinitsrian in d￿trI]K Refornied in tr*Jition and Presbyleri•n in policy. It
exists to glorify God and to work for advancanent of Christ's kingdom throughout the world. As a
national Church. it acknowledges a disti￿tIVe rnll and duty to bring the ordInan￿S of religion lo the
people in every partsh of Scotland through a teTritorial ministy. It ¢￿perat¢S with othcr Churches in
various ccumenical kndies in Scotland and iwond. Locally. th¢ Church plays a regular pari in the Airdrie
Council of Churches and wiicipates in the World Day of Prnycr and the Week of Pt3yer for Christi8n
Unity.
Sunday Worship takes pla(t at I l*m every Sunday and The Sacrament of Holy Communion ts held three
tim¢s pery¢ar in Church. Home Communions have b¢¢n availabl¢ for those who cannot attend the regular
Sunday morning communion. Other special S¢Tv1￿ have included Service of Hope. Arni¢d Forc¢s
Sorvice, Remembrance Sunday. Son8s of Praise and Christhias Family Services. There have been 4
issues of our Church New51etter, which have t*en delivered to all members. Our Youth organisations
include Rainbows and Brownies forthe girls and Anchor Boys. Junior Section and Company ￿tIOn Boys
Brigade. All leaders working with our young p￿pIe are ¢I￿¢d through the Protection of Vulnernbl¢
Groups S¢h¢m¢ as are those working with vulnerable adults. The Youth organisations have had regular
me¢tings in the Church ha]Is.

For aduh4 the Church has a Guild group who meet in the aftern(x)n on a monthly basis.
The wid¢r community ts represented by group5 such as Indoor Bowling and Keep Fit groups. our halls
are also available for private groups and family ￿nCtionS for the I￿1 Community. Keeping our halls
and outside areas in tiptop condTtion for all these activities is an ongoing ￿sk in any organisation. We
ar¢ very fortunate to have i)ur OV￿ -Dad's Arniy"" a group of volunteers who have been meeling weekly.
to ¢arry out building maintenance. gardening duties. tidying up and preparing the halls for events. Dad's
Arniy does a tremendous amount of WOTk and has true fun and fellowship at the same time. Dad's Amiy
alw ca￿S for our (iardcn of Rcmunbrdn¢¢. which is to all, encournging people to come and
remeEnber a loved one in peaceful surroundings.
OLTr Church continues to be involved in the Warni Spftces initiative. helped by funding from the LA)cal
Council. Our Churth halls are open on a Thursday. providing a warni space, fellowship. refreshments
and a warn) lunch for anyone in the community. This initiative hLs now a communTty cafe with
a wid¢r mix of people of all ages coming along for a chat and lryitaiity.
In December 2014. the fwst Messy Church event tLJ)k place in Clarkston and it IS DOW a r¢8ular feature of
our calendar of oulrea¢h and mission. During the two years of Covid restriclions. contacl with our Messy
Church families continued in various fomiats..- Messy Church in a 'Ba8' delivered to doorsteps. fun times
with the group through ZOOM meeting4 Muddy Church Walks and adventures with workshc¢ts.
Facebook and WhatsApp activities and challenge¥ and finally a BBQ outsid¢ in the chujrh wounds wh¢n
restrictions began to e￿. During this time. our Me&sy Church fwnilies also hel￿ in the creation of
vidws for the Christmas and Eastcr cclcbrations by 5cnding homc rccordin85 of their children Singing to
our organist for compilation.
In 2022 we were able to rebjrn to the nomial wactice of 'all are welcome. to OUT M¢ssy chU￿h and have
now held three events from October 2022. Many families frthn the wider community are involved in
Clarkston Messy Church.
Messy Church is a fast-8rowing worldwide ministty that ¢(￿tinUeS to engage and build relationships
with thousands ofpeopl¢ outside th¢ usual Church conl¢xt. Messy Church aimsto help famili¢s ¢xperienc¢
what it m¢3ns to be part of a Christian Community outstdc of Sunday worship. It is a new expre￿lOn
of worshipping to compl¢mcnl trnnsitional Sunday services. The initiativc is thoroughly cnjoycd by
both thc 8ll¢nd¢¢s atid th¢ organis¢rs. It is notabl¢ that many of the attendees are not those that attend
Sunday worship. This d¢monstrales th¢ swcess ofthe venture and of providing 8 worship programmc that
meets the needs of today.

The Church is actively rewesented in the following organisations: _ World Day of Prnyer, Hamilton North

County Lxvel and c(￿Mitt￿$ at Hamilton Prc5byt¢ry.
Volunteers who serve on a)mmitte¢s and W4)rking groups are a vitsl part of the work of the Church. In
addition. there are (ksignat¢d roles of Session CleTK Clerk to the Bo8r¢ FWO and Gift Aid Conveners.
Treasurer, Property Convener. Safeguarding cl￿OrdInatOr. 14ealth and Safety Convenor, Data Prolection
Adviser and tEarning Disability ConlaL'i. Eld¢rs and Pastoral Visitor5 of the Church regularly visit p¢ople
in the c(4nmunity and a range of members tsk¢ leading parts in Worship services.
Our Prcsbytery Elder keeps the Se&sion fully of Presbytery work.

Fellowship and being a welcoming Church are very imFx)rtantto the Congregation and many people
comment on how welcome they feel Is visitors. This fcllowship is greatly aided by the untiring and
untailing commitment of our Social and Fellowship group through s[￿lfie events wised by them
including CO￿ a￿1 afttr church hMKlw" Imrt a￿ by w(*king in the b￿oUnd to give sutTMXt to
other Organi￿lon$ or by woviding catering at 5￿cial servic¢s and Thtre is also a smaIl 8TOUP of
volunteers WIK) &Yovide coffeeJte4 and fri¢ndship after Sunday Service.
FollowinR th¢ Intr￿U¢ll0n of Airdrie FIMXI Bank. Clarkston Church h&8 been a strong supporter and with
great regularity provides substsntial amounts of supplies to the Fotrj Bank which is organised through
another local Airdrie Church.
In August 2024 the Church held a Fun Day at which several hundred people from the IIKal community
enjoyed an excellent afternTh)n. Money raised from this allowed b¢en deS1￿￿ted to be used for the
hall refurbishment which is planned durin8 2025.
Thc Church plays an a¢tive part in 5UPIMYti118 other charities through Collectio￿ at regular seryices and
donating to The Children's Society in 2024.
During 2024, OUT desi8natd Church websi* was regularty updated ￿1visIng of news. services, evcnts,
and the like. A Chuwh Magazinc, The Clarkston R￿rd, w&s distributed to members, homes during the
year and is available by email as requ¢&d. (hher aSl￿ts of shwing news now includ¢ Banners. leafle
and the use of 1"'a￿l￿￿)k.

There are 263 (previously 273) Chuzth M¢mbus including 7 adher¢nts. There are 31 wsons on the
Supplementary Roll.
There are 90 names on OUT Gift Aid list with 65 regulgr Gift Aid Donors. Weekly worship attendance
averages 50.
Sunday Sch￿1 aver8ge$ 3 in attendance.
Guild members number 16.
High pastoral needs within th¢ parish in res￿￿ of visitations of the $ick and eldcrly. funerals for
congr¢gational members &KI others within the parish. tog¢ther with two schwl chaplaincics have
been met. Regular assistance with the high pastoral n¢ds ha5 been given freely and gencrously by
qualified r¢ader5 and members of th¢ ￿ngregation. Th¢ 0￿1¢£ bearers of Session and Board h8v¢
worked together throughout the year as a team and are all commitled to the Church's future.
Stewardship
Our fundraisin8"Pi88y Banks- hav¢ rai*1 over £IO.(M)O since they were introduced. We are grnteful
for the continued supw>rt from the congregation Is w¢ continue to rais¢ funds for the repairs and
maint¢nonce *x)sts in church budgets.
Living Wage
The 0ITice Be?￿r$ noted the National Church c(xnmi¢m¢nt to paying a living wage to th(w in
Church employment and confllm thkt os a Board we currently meet this and give a cotnmitment to paying
the appropriate rate.
Fin*Dcial Review
We md all our financial ¢ommttments and our Ministy and Mission contributioll for 2024 was paid in
full by Stsnding Order. Overnll donations to the Church are in line with the [￿VIouS year. Other income
of £764 been generated from Rntal of the halls dwiDg 2024.
