Girls' Brigade Scotland is a charity for girls and young women. It is open to members irrespective of what their background is. Members come from diverse backgrounds and from all faiths or none. GBS recognises that each girl is unique and offers opportunities for girls to learn, make friends, try new challenges with the aim of encouraging them to be strong confident young women during their GB experience. Those with additional support needs, whether physical or related to mental health, are integrated into normal Company activities as far as possible with support from trained volunteers. GBS welcomes girls and young women irrespective of faith, race, nationality or sexual orientation.

Objectives: 3.1 In particular the Company is established to help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, find true enrichment of life. This is done by the formation, development, encouragement and support of local groups (known as companies) for the purposes of training and encouraging girls to follow the standard set by the Lord Jesus Christ for the whole of life and to provide positive Christian teaching and education in the development of individual capabilities, skills and understanding of the social challenges facing young people as they grow in wisdom and stature, such education and teaching to include respect for other religions and the promotion of social harmony, equality and diversity in society.
