Voluntary Action Orkney works to strengthen Orkney’s voluntary and community sector and help individuals and communities to thrive. We support voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises with advice, governance, funding, training and organisational development. We promote and support volunteering and help people find opportunities to get involved in their communities. We bring organisations and partners together, share information and evidence, and represent the views and needs of the third sector. We also deliver projects and services that support people, including young people and those facing barriers, and administer grant funding on behalf of partners.

Objectives: The Company's objects are: (a) to advance throughout Orkney, citizenship, community development, rural regeneration and the promotion of civic responsibility through volunteering and the voluntary sector. (b) to advance the effectiveness and efficiency of charities and voluntary organisations throughout Orkney including those that are engaged in advancing education, furthering health and protecting and promoting Orkney's arts and heritage in order to relieve poverty, sickness and distress.
