public, and for the benefit, enjoyment and education of the public, of the Band or other
bands, societies or groups whose aims and objects are the presentation and stimulation for
the benefit of the public of the art of Brass Band and Brass Instrument Playing;
(b) To provide or assist in the provision of the education of musicians by means of the
practical experience of working with, playing with or receiving tuition from the Band or any
of the members thereof for the time being;
(c) After a reasonable reserve for the continuing and future purposes of the Band has been
made, to donate the free proceeds of any performances of the Band to such organisations
charitable in law as the members in General Meeting shall determine;
(d) To do all other things which are lawful to promote the foregoing objects.| ||Lerwick Brass Band provides a service to the community by providing
music at local events when requested to do so by local organisations.
We welcome school-aged members, who benefit from playing in an adult
band. We donate the proceeds of our annual carol concert to charity.| ## **APPENDIX 1** ## **Achievements and performance** **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period** During 2025 the band gave a total of 19 public performances: 10 performances associated with various Up-Helly-A' festivals. 2 VE Day Services. National Fishing Remembrance Service VJ Day Service. Battle of Britain Day Service at the War Memorial, Lerwick. Remembrance Day service at the War Memorial, Lerwick. Christmas Lights Parade, Lerwick. 2 Carol Concerts. ## **Financial review** **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** After analysing the essential annual running costs of the band, the trustees have adopted a policy of keeping reserves of not less than £3000 and not more than £15000. Principal running costs include insurance, uniforms, instruments and music. There is currently no designated fund. **Details of any deficit Donated facilities and services (if any)** During 2024 the band had 26 regular players. All of these gave their time free of charge to fulfil the playing commitments mentioned above and to attend regular rehearsals.
