is exlendLd to Galslon Parish for the annual Ilurns Supper and Railway F.estival in Ahrcnsfelde.
Traditionally. group visits are arrangFed on an alternaling basis, with one y&qr seeing, a group
from Galston travelling to Ahrensf¢lde and the following year welcomingy a visiting, gyro
from
Ahrensfelde. However, recent y¢ars have seen smaller travel groups due to increasing
sls.
Due to declining numbers. the Sunday Club now includes children from preschool agè up lo
Primary 6 (ages O- l O). There are currently no Sunday organisalions for leena¥¢rs. and no Nlessy
Church cvenls have taken plac¢ since th¢ pandemic. Ib¢ 3rd Galston Boys, Brigade cortlinues
to meet in ihe Mission Elall, suptK)rting boys as ihey work towards their Queen's Badke and
Duke of Edinburgh Award5.

Thc unificalion of the three congregJalions marks a sigynificanl Iran5ition for IVPC. The
ommilmenl of ils leadcr5hip, congiregalion, and volunteers has Lnsured the continuity o
worship, pastornl care, and church activitics during this pcriod of changc. Despile ch4ill¢bges
SULh as leadership changes, financial c()nstrainls, and a decline in youth participation. Ihè
congTregalions remain commTlled to fostering community support, charitable givingp. and
inlcrnalional partnerships. I,ookin& ahcad, IVPC remains dedicaled lo fulfilling its spiritaal
and community responsibililies while preparing for the appointment of a new minister lo lead
the parish into the fulurc.

The year 2024 has been a signifilanl period for Irvine Valley Parish C'hurch (IVPC), with
continued cfforts lo enhance worship. communicalion. and communtly cngagiemenl. Statlstics
for IVPC show that there are 728 members and 46 adherenls. Communion services Were

licences, has been secured.
Weekly Orders of Service are prepared at Darvel and CJalslon, whilc Newmilns. duL to

projeclions for hymn lyrics and scripture readings, with limited hymn b(K)ks and Bibles
available. Galston continues to provide hymn books alongside projected lyrics and iexl

technoloby has presented challcngies, but a number of members of the congregation hav
volunteered to operate the syslL'ms and prepare projection slides.

Church halls serve as valuable community assets, available for hire by EK)th church and don-
church organisations. Rentsl income contributes lo building maintenance. Various supptht
groups, including Dementia UK. CA Supporl Alcoholics Anonymous. and Morven Day
CenlrL, ux. the facilities for services rclalcd io dementia care, addiction recovery, and mtntsl
health support. Additional groups such as the three Guilds, a Women's Group, and Mos(knw
SWI meet regularly. A variety of creative and fithess-based aclivities, including craft classes,
dance. drama, and exercise groups. al.w take place in the halls. A community choir. Sonds for
All, and our own church choir meet weekly. lThe outreach iniliaiives, l ea ai the an

community. Hall rentals for private funclions have thh¢r contributed to church funds.
Maintenane¢ efforts continue for all grounds including ihe Gal%ion gravevard. Security
measures remain in place al the Newmilns church buildinbJ as the congregation awaits
Presbvtery approval for its disposal, followin8 a unanimous vole for disp()sal prior to the
union.
In response lo high fuel cosls in 2023. regular winter worship s¢rvices in Galston were
relocaied to the Hogg, Hall lo rcduce healingT expenses. A ri)tational service schedule is u
consideration which could further optimise energy use across all siles.

Working) Party, established in 2023 with representatives Irvm th¢ Kirk Sessions and

subsequently presented to each Kirk Session and congregalion.
Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements is a priority. IVPC remains vigilanl in
adheringJ to Health and Saf¢iy regiulations, l)ata l)roteclion law.s, First Aid training, F ire
Safciy prolocols. Saliguardingy Vulnerable Groups procedures. dnd F(?i)d I lygiene standar

Financial Review
Tuial income has incre￿d by £71.946 from the previous year. Thi5 is due mainly lo

unification of thL ihrec valley churches, the incr¢&s¢ al80 includes the transfer of union blnk
balances which ¢quate to £34,781. Donations and legacies are usually ihe principal source

income and excluding the union bank balanccs have increased by £28,604 from thc p

year. Included in donations and legacies are offerings and tsx on Gift Aid which accotsnts for
730/0 and h&s increased by £21,533. Total c051s have incre&sed by £72,698 from ihe ￿eViouS
year, mainly due lo Giving to Grow, pulpit supply and ihe cosl of ihe new Audi(￿VIsUal
system5. In summary, thL'rc was a nei loss ol. £1,248 c()mpared io a nel loss of £49

previous year.
Irvine Valley Parish Church has a Strong financial base thanks lo the response of mem
rq over
recenl years. The main sourcc of income is reglular biiving by members of the congiregyation. 207
of which pay by means of standing order. Of those who give on a regular b&sis 154 are ¢ligible
for Ciift Aid. A further 55 contribute by way of free Will Offering (FWO) envelope4 and a
further 13 have pledged to pay by cheque annually.
Risk Management
The principal risks and uncertaintics lacing the congrcgation logether with the trusteel plans
and slrdlegtes to manage those risks have been higyhlighted in the Achievcments and
Perfom]ance.
