In 2025, the Board conlinued to provide guKJance lo the TethFesl leam. as Ihe refreshed Siralegy
continued to be embedding into the design. developmenl and delNery of Ihe annual prograrnme. In the
previous year, we increased the capacity ol the TechFèsi team lo deliver the diversity ol programmes
across Scolland, this was maintained in Ihe current perit)J. The Board is incredibly grateful to the team lor
thèir dedication and enthusiasm.

In 2025 TechFest welcomed Martha Gavan to the wsition of Managing Direclor following the resignation of
Sarah Chew. Following hef apFoinlrnent. Martha undertook a strategic ieview of the charity's cost base and
has begun implementing changes to our supplier arrangements lo ensure best vdue for the charity.
2025 was a diificult year securing grant and swnsorship funding whilst the amounts have increased
from Ihe previous year, TechFest continued to ulilise reserves brought fomard to invest maintain the
expanded learn members.
Delivering an exception￿ year of engagernenl through inspiring prO1￿ts and events ihal reached more
than 52.500 people and engaged leamers across 30 of Scotland's 32 local auihority areas, with a strong
focus on the North Easl of ScotlaTrJ.
Launching new inilialive5, inctuding Maths into Hydrogen. while continuing to successfully deliver a
range of established long-term wojects throughoul the year.
Leading the deltvery ol the education programme at Offshore Europe. The programme was highty
successful and re￿Ned oulslanding feedback from t￿th industry partners and participating schools.
Securing a new contract as a leading delivery partner in Scotland for the Royal Inslilulion. while
continuing long-standing partnerships wilh the British Science Association and other key stakeholders.
3. Flnances
3.1 Financial Revlew
The headline is Ihal the company has made a nel delicil 01 £89,208 in 202512024= £123,911 delicitl. Total
of accumulated lunds at 31 Decemter 2025 is now £313.217. compared with £402,425 a year eadier. The
total arKumulated funds al 31 December 2025 01 £313,217 is carried in line with the reserves policy al 3.3
below.
3.2 Prlnclpal Fundlng Sources
The Company's principal sources of funding are primarity by way of granls and SFxJnsorship - eithei project
or annual funding lor specilic events.
TechFesl remains highly ￿e[￿r￿Jen1 upon the energy In￿stry. whi¢h in turn is a major investor in, and driver
of the energy transition. We are espe(ially graleful to the University of Aberdeen which has helFed
immeasurably as our landlord since TechFest was foun¢Jed. and lo Rot*rt Gordon University which host the
Schwls Prograrnme and rnany of the wblic wogramme Festival events. The prinapal Festival SFonsors
were Shell and bp whose unslinling commitn*nt now spans more than two decades.
We continue lo have ongoing from Aberdeen City Counal, Aberdeenshirè Council, North East
Scotland College. Developing Young Workforce aThJ the Scottish Government. We are indebted lo all our
sponsors, some ol whom have remwned loyal over many. many years. so providing ihe solid foiindation that
a charity such as TethFest absolutely depends UFQn.

4. Plans for the Future
TechFest continues lo promote STEM and provides a brtdge be￿een industry and educalion. The Impa￿ of
projecl-based learning inilialives within education is now recognised as being effective across dl sectors as
we work collaboratively wilh stakeholders to meet the STEM skills shortage and ensure we have the
workforce ol the lulure.
As noted in the Financial Review, a large part of our financial support comes from the energy industry which
is a key investor in the energy Iransilion. Rewgnising that energy transition is front and cenlre in the minds
ol many increases the imp)rtance of STEM Iwowledge for our young people and Community.
The Board are focussed on achieving a b￿arteed l)u(h3et for 2026 and beyond a￿1 are exploring new
fundraising opportunities to accomplish this.
4.1 Te¢hFest Annual Programme ot events
Ai TechFesl, we aim to Conlin￿ delivering high levels of engagement and participation across our festivals,
outreach actiwties a￿1 school programmes.
Key objeclives indude:
Wilhin Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire schcds, we will continue to meet demand thrwgh our
Early Years, Primary and Secondary outreach programmes. Our aFproach is tailored lo the needs of
irKlividual schools, ensuring ￿rnerS and educators benefit Ihe breadth and diversity of
TechFest's programmes.
TechFesi will continue to SUPF()rt ScdaThl's transition to Nel Zero through STEM ￿lTeach activÉties,
alongside continued collaboration with industry, education and community partners.
2025 saw the return of our newly r￿e￿rgIsed Engineer 'n' ￿r Lives PTogramme, lunded by ETZ
and CNCK)C Inlemalional. This immersive inilialive provides young people with unique opportunities
lo explore engineering in the conlexl ol future energy Syslems arnl emerging induslries, helping lo
inspire the next generation of talent required to support Scotland's evolving economic and energy
landscape.

5.1 Goveming Document
The organisalion is a charita￿e company limited by guarantee, incorwrated on 16 August 2004. TechFesl
was established under a Memorandum of Association whid) eslatrAished the objects and powers of the
charitable company arKI is govern￿ under its Articles ol Associalion. In the event ol TechFesl being wound
up the members are required lo contrilxjte an arn￿nt not exceeding £1.
In 2022 the Board undertook a review of the Memorandum of Asscoation and the Artides ol Association.
This led lo the approval, by way of special ￿$OlUtion passed at the 2023 AGM. ot an increase in the
maximum number of Directors from 7 to 8.
5.2 Recruitrnenl arKI Appointmonl of Directots those already In pla¢e.
The Board is responsible for settiThJ the slraiegic direction arKI polries ol the Charity, while ensuring
ornpliance wlh the requirements of OSCR Ilhe Office ol the Scottish Charity Regulalorl. TechFest seeks lo
appoint Directors who have a strong inlerest in the Charity's objectives aThJ whose skills. knowledge and
experience Com￿eMent those already represented on the Board.
At each AGM, Directors who have seNed the I￿1 period Sin￿ their last apwinlment or reapwinlmenl
are required lo retire Exjt are eligible for re-eleclion. The Board recognises the imp)rtance of peri¢>Jically
refreshing its membership lo ensure a balan￿ of continuity. new persFeclives and expertise.
Al the 2025 AGM, Tom sande￿ was ftymally a￿)Inted as Chair. succeeding Brenda Wyllie lollowsng her
resignation from the Board.
5.3 Direclors Induction and Tralnlng Policy
New board members undergo an orientation session to brief them on Iheir legal obligations under charity
and company law, the content ol the Memorandum and Arlicles of Asstxialion, the committee and decision-
making processes, the strategy. and recenl linancial performance ol the charity. During Ihe induction
session they meet key employees armj other t#)ard members. Board rnernbers are encouraged to attend
appropriate external training events where these 7MII facilitate the Underta￿ng of their role.
5.4 Organlsallonal Stw¢ture
In 2025 the Boar(I mel 4 times I[￿uding the AGM. All meetiNJs were held in person wrth an option to attend
via a video link.

assessed and controls established throughout the year. A formal review of the TechFesl's risk management
process is undertaken on an annua] basis. Through the risk managemenl processes established lor the
TechFest, the board is satisfied that the major risks identified have been adequately mitigated where
necessary. 11 is recognised that systems can only provide reasonable, noi abSO￿te, assurance that major
risks have been adequately managed. Health. Safety & Environment is al the heart ol the TechFest's
planning, operation arxl delivery.
