## Activities

**Activities:** 'It makes grants, donations or gifts to organisations','It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

**What the charity does:** The charity was initially set up to campaign against the closure of the local maternity hospital. It then became a group which supported the services provided by the hospital, usually by volunteering and providing funds for anything the the NHS didn't have a budget for - that could be furniture, equipment, entertainment, decoration. During that time the group were fundraising for a replacement hospital, with the support of the NHS, however when Covid hit in March 2020, the NHS took the opportunity to close the hospital and since then the group have campaigned to have it reopened. Since the hospital closure we have had limited availability to support healthcare services in the community, however we have continued to do so by running support groups, supporting the community nurses and the GP surgery, while also continously lobbying those in power to return healthcare services to the community.

**Objectives:** 4.1 Promoting, providing or assisting anything which will improve the general wellbeing, quality of care or environment of patients of Insch Hospital, Medical Practice and the local community, adding value to the health and social care services provided by the statutory and voluntary sectors. 4.2 Encouraging and maintaining the interest and involvement of the public in the wellbeing of the community by linking health and social care services with the local population.
