Bonnyrigg & Lasswade Local History Society is a registered charity in Scotland. The aims of the Society are best described as fostering interest in the history and archaeology of Bonnyrigg & Lasswade.. holding regular meetings for members to which speakers may be invited., organising outings and visrts to pla$ of histori1 interest in the locality and staging occasional exhibrtions of archive material. As Honorary President and a Trustee of the Society. l am pleased to report thal we have had a successful year operating as nomial at the Prtcaim Centre, High Street, Bonnyrigg. The Society's Management Committee is appointed by the members at an Annual General Meeting, held in April each year. The retiring Management Committee members are.. Andrew Renwick [Chair & Trusteel, Karen Robertson tv1 Chairl. Lesley Campbell reaSurer1. Elizabeth Charles, Maureen Duncan, Gillian Renwick, Helen Stewart. All of the above-named Management Committee members wrlh the exception of Elizabeth Charles, were re-appointed at our Annual General Meeting held on 15° April 2026, in the Pitcairn Centre. The unfilled position of Secretary will be shared on a lemporary basis by Karen Robertson and Maureen Duncan. George Lyall has been re-appointed as our Independent Examiner. Our accounts for the year are attached and fomi part of this report. which has been approved by the Management Committee of the Society. Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Local History Society (Charity No. SC(N)09522) I report on the accounts ofthe charity forthe y¢ar¢nded 31" March 2026 which are set out on page1. Respective responsibilities of trustees and emIller The chariti s trustees are responsible lor the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the tenns of the Charities and Truste¢ Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charitkes Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (¢) of the Act and to state whether particular matters bave come to my attention. Basis of independent examiner'5 Statement My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those ttcords. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all tbe evidence that 'OUld be required in an audiL and consequentlv I do not express an audit opinion on the vieM' given by the accounts.
