## INTRODUCTION 

The Rotary Club of Inverness Benevolent Fund is a charitable benevolent fund administered by the Office Bearers of the Rotary Club in Inverness. it is a Scottish registered charity (registration number SCO08808). 

## GOVERNING DOCUMENT 

The fund is an unincorporated body, governed by its constitution. 

## CHARITABLE PURPOSES 

The principal purposes of the fund is to make donations to charitable and deserving causes. To prevent or relieve poverty. The advancement of education, community, public participation in sport and environmental protection or improvement. The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or disadvantage.

## TRUSTEES AND RECRUITMENT 

The benevolent fund is administered by the President, Vice-President, Junior Vice-President, Honorary Secretary, and Honorary Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Inverness. In the period to 30 June 2025 these office bearers were: 

John Cuthbert (President) Gill Silver (Secretary) Colin Munro (Senior Vice President) Neil Wallace (Treasurer)

## RESERVES POLICY 

The fund does not incur any operating costs, and generally makes donations and grants out of current year income. Therefore the fund does not need to carry reserves. 

## FINANCIAL REVIEW 

The result for the year was a deficit of £4,208 compared to a surplus in 2024 of £5,365. 

The Trustees consider the unrestricted reserves at the year-end of £7,035  (2024: £11,243) to be adequate for the needs of the fund. 

Council approved further donations totalling £6,300 (2024: £6,411), to be paid after the year-end leaving a balance of £635 (2024: £4,832) for the ongoing needs of the fund. 

## REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS 

The fund's principal source of recurring income is annual donations by members of the Rotary Club of Inverness, together with the proceeds of fundraising events. A number of fundraising events were organised during the year as detailed in the accounts. The fund receives a considerable number of applications for financial assistance during the year. The general policy is to review applications towards the end of the financial year. A list of donations approved and paid is shown in the notes to the accounts.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of the Rotary Club of Inverness Benevolent Fund** 

I report on the accounts of the Rotary Club of Inverness Benevolent Fund for the year ended 30 June 2025 which comprises a Statement of Receipts and Payments, Statement of Balances and the related notes. 

This report is made solely to the Charity’s Trustees, as a body, in accordance with Section 44 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. My examination has been undertaken so that I might state to the Charity’s Trustees those matters I am required to state to them in an independent examiner's report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the Charity and the Charitv’s Trustees as a body, for my examination, for this report, or for the opinions I have formed. 

## **Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner** 

The Charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of Independent Examiner's report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes a consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. 

## **Independent Examiner's Statement** 

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 

1. to which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: 

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations (as amended), and 

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Regulations (as amended) have not been met; or 

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
