Obiectives and actlvltlex
The UK Oil & Gas Chaplaincy Iiust SCIO is a Scottish Chariiable Incorporated Organisalion C'SCIO.) {Charity
No. SC0086051. The prinuple address is Shell UK Limited, The Silver Fin, 455 Union Street, Aberdeen, United
Kingdom, AB11 6DB. The SCIO wa5 incorporaled on 6 August 2014 as a fe5utt of a SCIO application by
Aberdeen Oil Industry Chaplaincy Trust, a trust regist6r8d as a Scottish Chanty since 14 July 1989. On 16
Septembor 2014 the net assets of the Trust We￿ gifted lo the SGIO. and on 31 Decernber 2014 the net assets of
The Oil chaplain￿ Trust Limited, a Scfjttish Registered charitable ojmpany {Company Reglstration Number
SC1268871 were gifted lo the SCIO.
The SCIO'S governing document is its Constitution and the objecis are..
the advancement of religion." and
the relief of those in need by rea50n of financAal hardship or other disadvantage.
The policies adopted in fvrtherance of these objects are sel out in the Conslilulion and there has been no changè
in thes8 during the year.
The trustee5 have paid due regard to guidance Issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what adiwlies the
charity should undertake.
The prinapal actiwtte$ of the SCIO are..
Chaplalncy Support- funding the remuneration package of a chaplain who provides pastoral support to woikers
and their families in the UK oil and gas industry. This includes the provision of transport to enable the chaplain lo
provide pastoral supporl to families throuyhout the UK and the costs associated with regular offshore visits. A
eh8plaincy adminislrator is also funded to provide support to the chaplain.
Hardship Relief - providing financial reliel or support to w0￿erS and their familiés in the UK oil and gas industry.

Achievements and perfomance
The SGIO have oonlinued to be SLJccessful in securing donations throughout the finanryal year with donations of
£184.90812024 - £164,345) being received. The SCIO relies heavily on the continued supporl of donor5 and ha5
received significant donations from large org8riisations within the Oil & Gas sector which il operates along with
donated premises to operate from. Incorne exceeded expènditu￿ in the current year, total spending was
£162,864 (2024- £180,361). The SCIO maintain5 a healthy unreslricled funds balance.

Financial review
Reserves policy
The rtharity's reserves at 31 Decembe¥ 2025 were £172,527 12024 £146.7601. The trustees have adopted a
policy of retaining suffiuent reserves lo protect against changing fin8ncJ81 circumstances, in particular condilions
which rnay anse limiting the funds being paid into the SCIO and also to allow sufficient funds lo mèet particular
appeals whith may fall within the abjectThies of the SCIO.
Future plans
The tru51ees will activety encourage the ongoing support of corporate fvnding for the future.

The powers for appointment and removal of trustees are set out in the Charity's ConstitutK)n.
A board of trustees administers the charity. Pursuant to therr delegation power5 under the charitys constitution
the board, for as long as hardship relief remains a purpose of the oiganisation, shall establish and maintain a
sub-committee, known as the hardship committee, which shall have all necessary powers to receive and
consider Cases foi hardship welief.
Individuals are inwted by the board lo become trustees and are selected on the basis of th8ir comrnilmenl lo
achiewng the objectives of the SCIO.

The trustees greatly appreuale the donated offices and 5UPPOrt costs prowded by SheFI U.K Lld during the
period.

The trustees are responsible lor pieparing the Trustee5' Report and the financial slalements in actordance with
applicable law and United Kingdorn Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Aecepted Accounting

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees lo prepare financial statements for
each financial year which give a Irue and fair view ol the state of affairs of the ch81ity and of the incoming
resources and application of resources of the charity for that yeai.

deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps
for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularrties.

I report on the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2025, which are set out on pages
5t012.

The charity's trustees are respon51ble for the preparation of the finanual stslemenls in accordance wlh the lemis of
the Charities and Trustee Investments {Scollandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scollandl Regulations 2006.
The charity's Injslees consider Ihat the audit requirement of Regulation 1011118) to Ic} of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations does not appty. It is my responsibilily to examine the finanaal statements as required under section 44
(Yllcl of the Act and to slate whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examinerfs statement
examination is carried out in acc£Jrdance wrth Regulation 11 of the Charities Ac£ounts (Scotland) Regulations
2006. An exarninalion includes a rewew of the accounling records kept by the charity and a comparis￿ of the
financial slalements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any tjnusual items or disclosures
in the financial statements, and seeking explanations from the trustees conceming any such rnatters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the eviden￿ that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not
express an audit opinion on the wew given by the financial statements.

1.1 Accountlng conventlon
The financial slatemenls have been prèpared in accordance with the charity's constitution, the Charities and
Trustee Investment Iscotlandl Act 2005. the Charities Accounts (Scotlandl Regulations 2006 {as amended)
and "Accounting and Reporting by Gharities. Statement of Recommended Piaclice applicable to chanties
preparing their a¢counls in accoidance with the Finanaal Reporting Standard applieAblè in the UK and
Republic of Ireland {FRS 102)" las amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 20161. The
charity is a Public Benefit Enlty as defined by FRS 102.
The charty has taken advantage of the provision5 Iri the SORP for chanlEs applying FRS 102 Update
Bulletin 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.
The finanaal stalernents have departed from the Charities IAccounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo
the extent required lo provide a true and fair view. This dep3rture has involved following the Statement ol
Recommended Practi￿ for charities applying FRS 102 rathei than the version of the Slatemer¢l of
Recommended Practice which is referred lo in the Regulations bul which has since been withdrawn.
The financial stèlements are prepared in 51erfing. which is the functional ujrrency of the charily. Monetary
amounts in these finanaal stslemenls are rounded lo the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The prinupal acc4)unling
poliaes adopted ale set oul below.
1.2 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use al the discrelion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
1.3 Incoming resources
Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been rnel.

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are Tecognised once the charity has been notified

Tangible fixed assets are initialty measured al cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of
depreciation and any impaiment losses.

1.6 Cash and cash equrvalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held al call with banks. other short-lemi liquid
investments with original maturities ol three months or less, and bank overilraft5. Bank overdrafts are shown
within borrowings in current Iiabililies.
Baslc financialassets
Basic financial assels. which include debiors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at
transaction price induding transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the
effective interest melhod unless the arrangement constitutes a Iin3ncing transaction, where the transaction is
measured at the present value of the lulure receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets
as5ifi8d as ièc8ivable within one year are not amortised.
Basic financial liabilibes
Basic financial Iiabililies. including creditors and bank loans are initially recugni5ed 81 Ir8nsaction price unless
the arrangement constilules a finan¢ing transaction, where the debt instrument is rneasured at the present
value of Ihe future payments discounted 8t 8 rn8wket rate ol interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable
within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subsequentty carried al amortised cost. using the effective interest rate method.
Trade ciedilors are obliyations to pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
operation5 from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one
year or less. If not, they are presented as non-currenl liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially al
transaction pnce and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Derecognltion of financial liabilities
Financial liabilities are derecognised when the ch8rily's contractual obligalions expire or are discharged or
cancelled.
1.7 Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
1.8 Fund Accountlng
Unrestricted funds induding incoming resources recewable or generèled for the objects of the charity without
further speafied purpose are available as general funds. These funds rAn be used in accordance with the
charitsble objectivés al tha disuetion of the trustees.
Designaled funds are those sel aside by the Irustees out of unrestricteLI general funds foi speryfi¢ future
purposes.

sources. The estimates and as50ryaled assurnptions are based on historical experience and other factors that
are considerèd to ￿ relevant. Actual results may differ from these esbmates.
The eslimales and underlying assumptions are rewewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting
eslimales are rec£Jgnised in the period in which the 8Stimalè is rew5ed where the rewsion affects only Ihat
