| Charitable purposes | : The Trust Fund’s principal purposes are the relief of poverty, the |

| Principal activities | : In furtherance of the Trust Fund’s charitable purposes, the |
| members of Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry raise funds through | |
| organised fund-raising events and through donations from other | |
| charitable trusts. | |
| The trustees then arrange the donation of monies to worthwhile | |
| charitable bodies which meet the foregoing charitable purposes. | |
| Achievements and | : The main achievements of Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry Trust Fund |
| performance: | during the year under review were as follows: |
| The programme of fund-raising activities drew in a total of £13,571 | |
| (2024 - £10,378). In addition, invested funds attracted interest of | |
| £1,174 (2024 - £1,170). |

Achievements and : Costs/expenses of particular fund-raising activities amounted Performance (cont’d): to £2,577 (2024 - £3,310). The net income for the year was used to make donations to worthy causes identified by Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry’s membership and endorsed by the trustees. £1,570 was applied in support of the Rotary Young Leadership Award with 2 senior school pupils from a local secondary school being supported financially to attend a one-week outdoor activity-based course as part of that Scheme. As previously, funds were made available in support of the local Primary Schools’ Quiz. £844 was applied in providing Christmas food parcels in the local community. Charitable donations of £1,900 each were made to Shelterbox and Rotary Foundation respectively with £5,173 being distributed to locally-based charities. Financial review: : The trustees’ general policy is to meet the Fund’s charitable aims by applying all sums raised each year in support of various charitable causes. A balance is carried forward each year to ensure that support can be offered should a pressing need arise before fund raising activities get under way. At 30 June 2025, unrestricted funds of £5,989 were available for this purpose.
A number of years ago, the trustees received an endowment of £50,000 from the estate of a former member and invested this sum to produce an income. Both the capital sum and income arising are available to support the work of RYLA (see above). These funds are known collectively as the Walter Craig Memorial Account. With investment returns recovering recently, the trustees have not required to encroach further on capital to ensure that continuing financial support for this work can continue.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the trustees of Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry Trust Fund (registered charity number SC008532) on the accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025.
I report on the financial statements of Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry Trust Fund for the year ended 30 June 2025 as set out on pages 4 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention

which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met, or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Unrestricted funds:
Unrestricted funds represent sums raised by the members of Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry in furtherance of the core objectives of the charity. The funds are distributed by the trustees to worthy causes identified by Rotary Club of Broughty Ferry’s membership and endorsed by the trustees. This year’s recipients included: Rotary Foundation, Dundee Foodbank (Christmas parcels), Prostate Scotland, Dundee Sea Cadets, Dundee Youth Music Theatre, Shelterbox, Blood Bikes Scotland, Ferry Fridge, Dundee Chamber Music, Kids Out Dundee, Friends of Barnhill Rock Garden, Friends of Broughty Castle, among others. We continued our arrangement to maintain the defibrillator which we installed previously in Broughty Ferry’s ‘Castle Green’ park.
Restricted funds:
Restricted funds are sums raised for or in partnership with specific charitable causes. The causes benefitting during the year in this way were: Rotary Foundation (End Polio Now), Prostate Scotland, Dundee Foodbank (Christmas parcels) and Starter Packs, Dundee.
Expendable endowment funds:
There is one expendable endowment fund, the ‘Walter Craig Memorial Account’. The capital sum is invested to produce an income which is applied in support of the Rotary Young Leadership Award (RYLA), but both the capital sum and income are available to the trustees for this purpose. £1,570 (2 places) was awarded for this purpose during the year.
