Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees

All of the Club's trustees are appointed or reappointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is normally held in May each year, or co-opted in accordance with clause Sd of the constitution.

Governing Document

The Club is a charitable unincorported association and the purposes and administrative

arrangements are set out in our constitution.

Charitable Purposes

Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution, are to promote and encourage the study, practice and knowledge of music and the arts in Hawick and the surrounding area.

Activities and Achievements

Presidents Report to the Treasurer March 31", 2026. A normal Season of 7 planned concerts initially became6 this year as the committee attempted to keep control of costs. We were put under pressure by Chamber Music Scotland’s decision not to fund us in 2026. Last financial year we gained £2,500 from them. The following performers were paid: Dick Lee and Anne Evans-September, Robin Chapel Lay Clerk singers-October Andrew Liddell and Daniella Nasar- November, The Troppos Quartet- January Meraki Duo - February, Viktor Mastoridis — March

Viktors concert coincided with the Reivers Festival so we managed to obtain free publicity and were donated the Evergreen Hall in return for conceding the Rugby Club. This was a very successful concert with good audience figures.

Our budget was successfully managed through the season to such an extent that we were able to plana 7 concert for May. This was to celebrate the local composer, Brian Bonsor. A free concert at Teviot Church Hails. This was made possible because we raised £600 from a coffee morning in February and £400 grant from a local wind farm. Our main venue Hawick South Church Halls Buccleuch Road was hired four times and the Rugby Club once. Publicity is a vital cost programmes and posters being printed at a local firm.

This year we applied for Lottery funding to create a series of concerts that were more affordable

We were unsuccessful but this is something we may pursue in the future

As we seek to become more inclusive complementary tickets were offered at the last concert to Interest Link. Reserves stand at £8,000 with £496.36 interest achieved

Our current account stands at £4,829.43

Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts for the Year Ended 31st March 2026

We were very grateful to receive a grant of £400 from Teviothead & Borthwick Water Community Council

Music Club membership totalled 40 at 3ist March, 2026, which includes 4 honorary members.

Trustees’ Remuneration and Expenses.

Some Trustees received remuneration for expenses such as postage and stationery, presentation flowers and providing hospitality to performers, during the year.

Reserves

As a result of deficit of £641.99 for the year, the Club held unrestristed funds of £13,325.79 at the year end.

Funding once again remains a challenge and it is anticipated that we will again be making an application to Chamber Music Scotland, our former principal funder, for the forthcoming year whilst continuing to invest other sources of finance.
