Members and visitors to our website continue to supply information pertinent to the 36 local area communities that we cover within Ross & Cromarty. Many article submitted are then published on the website for access to anybody with an interest in our local area heritage.
Objectives: The aims of the Society shall be to promote and encourage interest in, and care for, the history, beauty and character of the area and, in particular, the following objects, by charitable means but not otherwise: (i) To maintain and develop the Ross and Cromarty Heritage Society website www.rossandcromartyheritage.org (ii) To prepare reports and schedules of historic relics, to collect, collate and preserve pictorial and literary records. (iii) In the event of any historic relic having, in the proved need of progress, to be altered or destroyed, to record all available details before the proposed alteration or destruction takes place. (iv) To register the location and ownership of historic relics in the area and to encourage the owner to ensure their preservation and safe custody, and in the event of the owner not being in a position to exercise such responsibilities, to assist said owner in any manner considered practical. (v) To encourage, support and carry out research into matters of historic and general interest in the area, and to publish the results of such research in suitable fonn. (vi) To maintain liaison with educationists and provide assistance by means of meetings, lectures, exhibitions, publications and publicity, so as to encourage students and others to take an interest in the aims of the Society. (vii) To make such representations to official bodies as in the opinion of the Society may be necessary to safeguard the objects of the Society and the public interest. (viii) To promote schemes of a charitable nature in accordance with the foregoing objects.
