Our charity was established in 1954 for the purpose of creating a national fellowship of bowlers. Every year, on application to the Trustees of the charity, discounts are given to purchase bowling aids to help aged and disabled bowlers continue to play bowls. This coming year in April, our website will show what bowling aids are available, and where members can go to buy them at the discounted rate of 30%. For more expensive aids eg bowling buggies, grants are given to the applicant club to purchase the equipment. In the event that the buggy is no longer needed by the club, it reverts back to the charity for onward use by another applicant club. The charity also gives emergency and bereavement grants, all at the discretion of the trustees.
Beneficiaries: 'Other defined groups','Other charities or voluntary bodies'
Objectives: The Trustees shall hold and administer the whole funds of the Scottish Bowlers Fellowship for charitable purposes namely, to give financial assistance towards the maintenance, education and/or benefit of widows, orphans and/or dependents of deceased members of the fellowship who are in necessitous circumstances through ill health or other causes beyond their control all as the Trustees shall in their sole discretion consider deserving.
