Turriff and District Herita e Socie Annual General Meetin 2026 Chairman's Re ort 2025 has been another busy year for the Society. We remained open during the Winter Season, albeit for I day per week, usually a Friday as this coincided with the weekly work placement for a pupil from the Academy. In April we held our annual Doric day with Jim Brown from Fettercairn a5 our main speaker. He was followed by bothy balladeer, Doug Hay. In the afternoon we were entertained by Aaron Gale from Huntly with his award winning Doric movies. Following on from the success at the Turriff Show in 2024 we set out to impress once again with a wonderful display of the tools and products that were relevant to the saddlers business of Charlie Middleton, whose shop wa5 across the street from the Museum. My grateful thanks to Allan and the volunteers for putting together the display. An extra thank you to Jake Duncan for making the board to display the various tools. However, our display did not attract a rosette. A5 part of our Stand at the show, we launched our Doric Cook Book. We acquired the rights to a previou5 publication and had it modernised and reprinted. It proved very popular. The work in tidying up the Auld Kirkyard continued with the help of the Rotarians and the Rugby Club in removing more unwanted growth. More still to do. After much negotiation with Aberdeenshire Council, the story boards were finally installed at the Auld Kirkyard in November 2025. We had
a good turnout of invited guests and public to the unveiling and most returned to the Museum for teas and cakes. The display to celebrate 100 years of Girl Guiding proved to be very popular during the summer months with visitors returning time and again as more memorabilia became available. The internal roof of the Session Cottage was removed and this has helped with the damp problem by improving the airflow in the building. However we are still short of enough volunteers to open the Museum for longer and to open the Session Cottage on a regular basis. On a personal note I wish to thank the members of the board for their continued support and hard work. We can only operate with the support of the Board and the volunteers to not only man the museum but also the stand at the show and May Day. Thank you and thank you all for your attendance tonight.
