CHAIR’S REPORT

The past year has seen the SKF hold its first conference in five years which provided challenges in consequence of the sad loss of longstanding members and the skills and experience that they had brought to our charity.

After a long, drawn out process with our bank, access to our account was made available to the new treasurer and the handover of duties was finally made possible.

The charity’s physical materials found a new home, moving from Leith to Paisley. Given the nature and frequency of access required, this move made considerable logistical sense.

Good progress has been made in re-establishing Kidney Patient Associations in the area of Greater Glasgow. We plan to consolidate these new groups and put work into other areas in Scotland where Covid 19, lockdown and natural wastage have seen patient participation reduced. We look forward to new participants and committee members in the near future.

It is our intention to hold a conference in 2026 in collaboration with the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership; our first priority being to establish a suitable venue. We are also planning a conference for Glasgow in 2027 which will serve as a celebration of this charity’s 50" birthday.

I would like to thank everyone for their efforts on behalf of the Scottish Kidney Federation and I look forward to working with everyone in the year to come.

Respective Responsibilities of Officers and Examiner

The Charity’s Officers are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The Charity Officers consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. Basis of Independent Examiners’ Statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the Officers concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

Independent Examiners’ Statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

  2. e to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounting Regulations (as amended), and

  3. e to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations (as amended)

have not been met, or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
