REPORT OF THE VESTRY
YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2024
The members of the Vestry Pr￿nt their annual report together with the financial
statements for the year ended 30 September 24.
Structure & Governance
In terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities
Accounts {Scotland) Regulations 2006, the Vestry reports to the congregation as follows..
1. St Kentigem's Episcopal Church
{SC0078941.
Ballater 18 a reglstered Scottish Charity
2. It is a member of the Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney of the Scottish Episcopal
Church and 18 in full communion with the Anglican Church.
3. The Superior authority 18 the 8ishop of Aberdeen and Orkney.
4. All of fts affairs are govemed by the Vestry.

Vestry members are elected or appointed by Annual General Meeting established by
constitution and under Canon Law of the Scottish Episcopal Church. There is no fomial
induction programme bLrt ongoing guidance is giv8n to ènsure that Vestry members are
familiar with the Church's values, aims and resFK)n3ibilities as the designated trustees of
charity.

11 is the duty of the Vestry to manage the temporal affairs of the congregation with
responsibility to keep the fabric and propety of the churth and other buildings in good
working order and to look after the finan￿$ of the church.

The Vestry keeps under reviv4V the major risks to which the Church is exposed and has
established procedu￿8 to mitigate any risks identified.

The Church's principal activities include public worship in sacrament and prayer,
Christian education, charitable work and fund raising for local, national and intemational
needs, social meetings. predominantly of the youth. the elderly and many community
groups of all ages.
Volunteers
The Ve￿ry is grateful for the time freely given by a large number of volunteers, wrthout
whom many of the activities would be unable to operate.

whole communty.

A surplus of £2,548 wa6 made during this finanrial year compared to a surplus of £3.087
last year.
Plans for future perlods
The Vestry will continue its range of pre8ent activities in th8 foreseeable future.

The Vestry has adopted a policy of tying to maintaln a levol of unrethcted r88erveJ
such Ihal, in the event of a Signifi￿nt drop in income, the Church would be able to
maintain rts current level of activities for a ￿asonable period until replacement funding 18

The members of the Vestry musl p￿pare financial statements which give sufficlent detail
to enable an appreciation of the transactions of the Church dLrring the financial year.
The m8mb8rs of the Vestry are responsible for keeping proper accounting records
which, on requ881, must reflect the current financial position of the Church at that time.
Thls must be done lo ensure that the financial stslemenls comply with the Charities and
Truslo9 Investment {Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Chanties Accounts (Scotlandl
Regulations 2￿6. They are also responsible for safeguarding the 888ets of the Church
and must take reagonablo steps for the prevention 8ndlor detection of fraud and oth•r
irregularfties.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2024
I report on the accounts ol the charty for the year endéd 30 September 2024 which are
set out on pages 5 to 7.

The Church's Vestry members are responsible ft)r the pr8paration of the accounts in
accordance with the terns of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005
and Charrties Accounts IS¢otland) Regulations 2006. The Church's members of the
vesty consider that the audit requirement of R•3ulallon 10{1) (d) of the Accounts
Regulations does not apply It Is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required
under section 44(1) (C) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to
my attentlon.

My examination is carried out in a¢cordance with Rtyul8llon 11 of the Charlties
Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination indudes a review of the
accountirsg reGords kept by the Gharty and a comparison of the accounts present8d wrth
those records. It also Sncludes consideration of any unusual tt8ms or di8cIo8ur8 In the
accounts, and seeks explanations from the Truste8s concemlng such matters. The
procedures unLlertak8n do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an
audit, and consequentty I do not express an audlt oplnion on the view given by the
accounts.

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention other than
disclosed below.
