The Trust owns and operates The R&A World Golf Museum in St Andrews. The Trust holds and conserves objects of historical value to the game of golf. The Trust provides educational programmes for visitors to the Museum. The Trust is part of The R&A Group being the governing body for the game of golf worldwide (outside the United States and Mexico).

Objectives: The objects for which the Trust is established are as follows:- to preserve for the benefit of the townspeople of St Andrews in the County of Fife and of the nation at large, whatever of the Scottish historical, architectural and constructional heritage may exist in the Conservation Area of St Andrews in the form of buildings (including any building as defined in Section 52 of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1972 as amended) of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest. and to advance and promote the education of the general public by establishing and running a Museum called the R&A World Golf Museum
