Activities and Achievements

The team have attended several call-outs and have been on stand-by for another couple. The team has also provided first aid cover for the Dirty Thirty Challenge – an annual event that challenges walkers and runners to complete a 30 mile circuit around coast and mountains.

Monthly training continues with new members being able to attend and learn the basics. New members are not included in call outs until they have been on the team for six months and undergone safety aspects of training and are deemed competent. Additional training is undertaken in conjunction with neighbouring team, Kintail – sharing knowledge and experience is helping to inform responses and upskilling.

The ongoing search for a suitable piece of land to build a base on, is in the early stages of negotiations with a plot owned by a local man. A planning application will be submitted to Highland Council in May with construction hoped to be complete before the end of the year. Although this has taken some time to move forward, there is now more positivity that we are a step closer to obtaining a permanent base.

A constant review of training needs and equipment purchases are undertaken by the relevant office bearers.
