The orchestra performed 4 cOn￿rIS in Glasgow this season. This gave
maximum practice for members and more members of the public were
able lo attend live concerts.

APPENDIX I
Summary of the maln achlevemenls of Our Oclober concefl was an unusual combination of a very known
the charlty durlng the financial period
symphony paired alongside a more modern symphony. Our conductor f
this ccncarl was performing with us for the firsl tim8.
In December we performed a concert foaturing Music from th8 Movies.
This was an inlgraclive concert to engage 8 wider audience. The
conductor spoke lo the audience between pieces and one piece
encouraged thè audiern￿ lo turn in lo performers by singing along. This
was a sell out concert which is good for m8mbers and the Glasgow public.
Our March concert fealured a young piano soloist from the Royal
Conservalo¢re of Scotland, performing a popular concorto which was very
popular wilh our audience and rnèmbèrs.
Our summer term saw arK)Iher new conductorjoin us and w8 performgd a
concert with a mix of unusual pioces by Brits'sh composers alongsid9
symphony by a popular composer, Borodin.

Bri8f statement of tho charlty's policy
on res0￿95
Our policy on reseTV8S Is lo rglain a balancè in thè aecounls equivalent lo
6 months of the spending necessary lo continu& with our obj9elivas,
assumiw no income apart from an adjuslmenl for membership
SLJbscriplions. This evenlualily is exlremely unlikely, bul this allows for
unforeseen circumstances. This equates lo approximately £S,000.
The Trusleos will review this amount and the policy every three years.
Details of any deflcit
There was a deficsl of £2195 in the workino account for this financial year,
2023-24, however due lo using a cash reporting system, signilic8nl funds
relating lo this yoar were nol rgceived lo the bank before the fiiiancial year
end. Gift Aid of approximately £2,600 and oulslanding lickel income of
approximately £1400 are expected. This would have led lo a profit this
year with concert 4 br6aking even.
Donated faeilltles and servlces (if any) None, all facilities and services arg paid for.

APPENDIX 1
As well as main operating account, GOS had an Additional Activities" current account. This ac(x)unt will be used
for exira @vents in future and currently holds a small float lo keep il open.
GOS also has a Saviws Aceount which CLwrenlly holds significant funds, primarily due lo a generous donation from a
large company. Thosa funds will be used for future adiviligs as determined by the orchestra.
The Slalement of Balances page now shows a15 funds b81onging lo the orche51ra and our surplus is healthy. Future
