## **Recruitment and appointment of Trustees**
All of Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital Friends’s trustees are appointed or reappointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is held in May each year.
## **Governing document**
Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital Friends is an unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.
## **Charitable purposes**
2.1 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage (including relief given by the provision of accommodation or care) 2.2 The advancement of health (including the prevention or relief of sickness, disease or human suffering).
## **Activities and achievements**
The Trustees paid tribute to Brenda McMillan who served as a Treasurer and a committee Member. We were very sorry to hear of Brenda's passing last year. Brenda was a dedicated member of the Friends. She could turn her hand to anything but was mostly known for her 'green fingers' and dumplings. Sadly, we will miss her dumplings with our cup of tea after the AGM. She produced beautiful floral arrangements for our speakers at the AGM and was a mainstay along with volunteers for looking after the outdoor pots and tubs, along with her daughter Susan. These were to brighten up the outside of the building and a few of the patients took great delight into remembering and participating with their own gardening skills. It was so good watching the generations work together.
As part of the rehabilitation programme we purchased activities/games for the day room. This came as a donation from the family of John Davies.
Corrinna Smith, Ward Secretary, is such an amazing help to the Friends for organising the ordering of requests from us via the staff and many other helpful tasks. Fair to say we have covered many requests from the hospital staff and only had to turn down some items which were not sanctioned by Health and Safety.
We were invited again to be part of the Rotary Halloween quiz and received a very generous donation from the Rotary Club. This was advertised on the Friends' Facebook page and we supplied sweets, crisps and some baking for the tables. We received £650, from the takings on the night. Details of all donations are in the Treasurer's Report.
We had a very joyful carol singing afternoon when we invited the Golspie Fun Singing to join with patients and their families. I would hope we are able to repeat this happy occasion this year.

The LCMHF are very grateful for donations to their funds from patients and their families, community groups and individuals. We focused on the outdoors this year buying more garden furniture and will continue with our planting areas. Thank you very much to Douglas Mackay, who kept the tubs watered and taking on a big responsibility for carrying water from home to the garden.
This year, carrying on from a family/patient request for what their money is used for we have been delighted to supply some improvements to help with Staff Comforts. The late Lindy Jack's husband, Donnie, requested a stainless steel cabinet to store Staff dishes, so that will make their dining area more pleasant to spend time in.
Another interesting purchase has been red crockery which interestingly encouraged patients with Neurodivergence to eat. Another patient donation was from lshbel Ross, in memory of her husband Hamish Ross, to be spent on palliative care. One of the purchases for this is the beautiful screen which will be across the door of the Snowdrop Room so that the door may be left open if the weather is hot and the patients will still have full privacy.
It remains for me to thank Christine Ross, Chief Officer at VGS, to advise us about communication with OSCR, Corrinna Smith, Ward Secretary, who also organises communication between staff and Friends, the Trustees for their dedication throughout the year and for keeping a sense of humour when things get tricky, Alison our Treasurer, Ronnie Sim who examines our accounts every year, Louise Cummings, our Minutes Secretary and of course Kathleen, our Secretary, who works tirelessly and efficiently keeping us all in order and has a wealth of information going back over many years. She paid me a generous amount of money not to mention the exact amount.
We also thank the surrounding communities who fundraise for us and for you, the people who have made the effort to come out tonight. Last but by no means least, our wonderful, caring Staff who work in all areas of our Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital.
## **Trustee remuneration and expenses**
The trustees did not receive any remuneration during the year.
## **Reserves**
For the year there was a surplus of £5076. Frequent Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital Friends meetings ensures that reserves are always available.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital Friends report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2026 which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
- to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and
- Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
• to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met, or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
