2.1.1 to prevent those in need by reason of ill-health and suffering by the provision of palliative care and hospice facilities by means of:2.1.1.1 establishing and maintaining operating hospices and outreach facilities in the local area of Renfrewshire, for the reception and care (in patient and out patient) of persons (aged 18 years and above) for whom palliative care is appropriate.2.1.1.2 providing medical, nursing and other treatment to deliver specialist and supportive palliative care for patients, their family members and carers, wherever required. and2.1.1.3 providing pastoral, spiritual and counselling support (including pre and post bereavement care) to patients, their family members and carers, staff and volunteers, and making available social work advocacy, guidance and support to patients, their family members and carers. and2.1.2 to advance education in the medical field by:2.1.2.1 promoting, encouraging and assisting in the teaching and training.
