We aim to do this through supporting existing church members through worship and prayer gatherings and encouraging new members th ugh community work such as opening our hall to other groups and other Out￿aCh work. The annual report and accounts presents a summary of our firkincial attivities duri year and gives an overview of the general attivities which have taken place in the our church in the past year. the feof Artivities and Achievements Once again, Vestry has had another busy year. November started with a service for All Saints and All Souls Dayi st￿arned on Zoom through our newly installed WiFi. We also held the first of our calendar's fundraising events, a Mamma Mia film night which was enjoyed by all and rdising money in the process. Following this in November was our Remembrance service and Christ the Ki the end of the month. We planted 300 spring bulbs in the hope of seeing them in sp gat Some of the congregation joined with our friends at St Andrew's, Wishaw for a St Andrew's Day Servi￿ and entertainment afterAiards. Our Christmas Lunch took place on Sunday IO" December at Alba Bar & Grill and we joined with Holy Name for Christm2 Lessons & Carols on Sunday if December. We celebrdted a joyous Christmas Eve with hymn singing accompanied by the organ. The Epiphany Lessons & Carols took on 7, January and although few in numbers, was filled with ￿jOIc1rKJ. rvice lace Our midweek seNices followed by tealcoffee ar)d chat ￿Surned and were streamed Zoom for those unable to attend. The midweek service5 a￿ being a great source of fellowship for those attending. Epiphany season was quickly followed by Lent which began with a service for Ash Wednesday. Our joint services wtth Cumbemauld chan time to 10.30am on the third Sunday of the month. Tracey as Lay Rep represented the congregation at Diocesan Synod in Kilmarnock at the beginning of March. The Sund sin Lent tcrf)k us on a joumey of creation following the Consider C￿ation resour￿ from Diocese. The first Sunday l())ked at atmosphere, followed by vegetstion, sea￿n$, slty & sea, living creatures, all asking us to refleck on Creation and G()J's work on Earth. Holy Week began with our Palm Sunday seNice followed by a Maundy Thursday service as we began to recall the events which led to Jesus, crucifixion. We ￿lebrated the Ascension of our Lord befo moving into the season of Pentecost with Trinity Sunday and St Columba celebrated Sunday as well. The pEw sheet became avBilable in a digitsl forniat for those who wi$hed it and our services for spring/summer changed pattem and have conkn'nued in this way. Bishop Kevin gave formal notice of his reti￿rrEnt and his farewell sen11￿ was held at,ttr CathedrBI at the end of June. As a congregation we worked together to submit our word cloud of what qualities and skj'lls we hope the next &5hop will emtKxJy. As part of tNs process, the Vestry submitted a written piece on the current life of St Paul and St Joh including what we do well and what we could do better. Over the summer period, some of the congregation shared their stories of faith and heard the stories of some Scottish saints on a Sunday. At the end of August, we held a busy Bring and Share lunch which brought the congregation tcyjether in fellowship. Ilhe process of electing a new Bishop began at the beginning of September at the Cathedtsl. We celebrated Harvest in Cktober by On￿ again supwrtsng Monklands Women's Aid helping those in our l(xal community. Plans for Future Periods While continuing our current offering of WO￿lp, we will continue to explore vlays in we can serve the wider community through sep11￿, events and beirKJ present. hich Social media and internet access have enabled interest in our Faith, which has ￿u￿4d in new members attending our ser¥ices. We move forvrdrd in faith knowing we have a Mountain to climb, but also kr￿WIng thbt mountain tops are where the most extraordinary experiences of G(xl have often beeri encountered. We hope we have started to dimb. Income St Paul and St John's congregational nurnbers have decreased considerably in ent years. We appreciate the overdll commitment of giving received during the year, especially from those who are unable to attend for health reasons. The letting of Our hall has been a valuable %)Ur￿ of regular income and w￿ continue our gratitude to the ¢gular income from the John Kelly Trust and Unit Trust investment. We also receive a contribution from The Church of The Holy Name, CumtEmauld towards specific shar costs of our Priest. We continue to be financialty SUPPM)rted by a Di(Kesan SuptM)rt Grant towards our Priesvs costs which is gratefully received and mLKh appreciated. Investments Monies which are not needed to fvnd day to day exEEnditure are invested in the Sc ttish Episcopal Church's Unit Trust Pool (Lrrp), administered from the Scottish Epi%opal Church's provincial office. The Investment ￿lIcY of the UTP, which accord5 with that of the Vestry, is to earn a return on the assets over the long term, sufficient at legst to maintsin the real value of the distribution to unit holder5. The Investrnent Committee represents the Church on the Church Investors Group (CIG) which, in turn, repr&ents Institutional investors from many mainst￿arn Church denominations and church related charities. The aims of CIG include encouraging the formulation of investment Policies based on Christian ethical principles and responsible business practices, thiough engagement with company managements. The Investment Committee believes th4 CIG provides an effective voice for engaging in issues of common concern to Chlstian investors. Structure, Governance and Management St Paul and St John the Evangelist is an unincorporated assc(iation, governed Iby a constitution dated 20" February 2022. As a member congregation of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway in the Scottish Episcopal Church, it is also governed by Canon Law of the Scottish Episcopal Church. The management team of the Church is known as Vestry. For the purposes of charities law, the members of the Vestry are Charity Tr of the Church. Details of the Vestry members are given on page l. ees Apart from the Priest-in-charge, ordinary Vestry members are elected by the Congre ation in annual m￿ting. Vestry members usually serve for a term of three years. The Secretsry and Treasurer are appointed by the Vestry. The Priest-in-charge is app)intrd by the Vestry and Bishop of the Di(Kese. There is no fomial induction programme for new members but ongoing guidance is iven to ensure that Vestry members are familiar with the Church's values, aim and resposibilities as the designated Trustees of a charity. The Vestry secretary re￿larlY updates all members of the Vestry on the ￿levant changes in legislation and best prpctice relating to charities. The Vestry regularty considers the risks faced by St Paul and St John'$ and ensures that the appropriate risk management prLKedures are in pla￿ to mitigate hose risks, through its Rj'sk Register. Relationship with Diocese and Province St Paul and St John the Evangelist is SUPFY)rted by the DI((￿ and the pr(Nin￿ thtough the pastrjral oversight of the Bishop, central SLIP￿rt functsons provided at Diocesan level and gr3nts from central funds when required. The church is represented at Diocesart level by the Priest-in-charge and the Lay Representstive. As a member of SEC, St Pdul St John'5 has an obligation to contribute to costs of tr￿ Di￿eSe and Province through payment of an annual -quota". This amount is based on the level of income of the Church in comparison with that of other thurches in the Di(Kese and ProvirKe. We attively participate in the DiLKesan Regional Structu￿ as members of the Lana￿Shi￿ Repional Council. No adjustments have been made for any income due but not received, mr for any expense incurred but not yet paid, at the year end. Church Buildings The church and hall, situated in SprirKJwells Avenue, Airdrie ML6 6EA and the r￿tOry, situated in GartMO￿ Road, Airdrie ML6 9BH are not shown in statement of balances. The Vestry believes that it is not EM)Ssible to place a market value on them. The valuation of the church and hall buildings, including contents for insurdnce purposes is £4,325,516. The valuation of the rectory and contents (common parts) for InSurdn￿ purposes is £441,629. The Rectory was purchased in August 2010. All properties are owr￿d by St Paul and St John's but for legal pUr￿)seS a￿ registered in the name of the Di esan Trustees. Special Collections During the year, the church SUPEM)rted two different charities. The funds collect were banked and the total paid over to the res￿1Ve charity, equal to the amount received. Because the church was simply collecbng the money of indtvidual donors and for￿tar¥ing it to the nominated charity, this income ar￿ exFEnditure is not induded in these aCcO￿ts as part of the income and expenditure of the church. However, the Priest-in-charge re￿iVed a stipend (and pension contributions) in accordance with SEC approved stipendiary amounts for the post of Priest-in-charge. The fijll stipend for the year wa5 £32,192 with pension contribLltions of 32.2 % . Additionally, expenses were paid as detailed in note 7. As is customary, the Priest-in-charge occupies, on a rent free basis, the Rettory building owned by St P3LJ and St John's.
