Trustees Report 2024
Firstly, let us say that we are grateful to God for his, care, provision. and love that we have
experienced as a Congregation as well as a wider community in 2024. We meet regularly for
Worship every Sunday as the main expression of our service to God and our community.
We also hold Fellowship groups, craft ￿0UpS, supper evenings and our Guild meetings and
Knit or Natter group. Our special servicos throughout the year are irnportant to the life of
our congregation and town- including Wave of Light and Blue Christmas where we offer
comfort to those struggling with infant loss and who find Christmas difficult respectively.
We have a community coffee morning every Tuesday, and until the summer a Toddler
group. It was extremely encouraging to see our weekly offerings increase substantially
again this year-just Shy of £3000 increase over last year. The incorne from our building
also increased. This is a matter of prayerful thankfulness to God. The overall expenditure
decreased, but this was due to larger Scottish Power p8yment in 2023. The ongoing issue
with scottish Power continues to vex the Church but we believe this will be resolved in
2026.
The Congregation has continued to be served bythe
who
celebrated his ninth Anniversary with us in August. In October it was Wlth shock and
sadness that
nnounced his acceptsnce of a Call to be the Minister of Market
Harborough Congregational Church and that he would depart in February 2025. Over the
years. the pastoral relationship between our Minister and Congregation has been a deep
one, and both sides wlll be extremely sore to part ways. We give thanks to God for his
rninistry and for all God h3s done for us as a Church and we are confident God will continue
to do for us moving into a new chapter in 2025.
We value our Ilnks wlth other community organisation5, and we partnered with the
amazing Splash and LINKS Eyemouth, being used as their base in our building, for many
different food projects- recipe bags and food bags. We are thankful that our relationship
with Abundant Borders continues and deepened through 2024. ECHO community choir
continues to meet weekly and is a great communlty venture enrichlng the lives of a growing
group of singers.
Oijr Mini.£tp.r continues to be President of tho Eyemouth Herrin8 Queen Festival who
continue to so much to keep our town's proud traditions. Our annual Service of the Sea
closes the festival week and through our Minister we maintain a link to the High School as
is a Chaplain.
Funerals are an important part of our witness to the lovlng care of our God in the
community. We lost some faithful members over the course of the year and carried out
several community funerals. We sought to offer comfort, support, and show God's love In
pastoral and practical ways. We were delighted to conduct several Weddings and baptisms
throughout 2024.

We continue to work closely with other Christian Churches- nationally through our
membership of the Congregational Federation and Congregational Federation in Scotland -
and locally with East Berwickshire Churches Together. Advent and Lent Bible Studies as well
as joint services.
We thank the members, adherents, and friends of Eyemouth United Congregational Church
for their dedication and support. We exist to glorify God in our worship of him and in our
serving our community and hope to continue and expand through 2025 and beyond. We
enter 2025 with new concerns as we move into Vacancy, but God is King, and we pray he
will supply all our needs as we seek to worship him and serve our community.

Respecttve responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The ch8rity's trnstccs are rc8ponsibl¢ for the prcparation of the accounts in accordan￿ with
thc tcnns of th¢ Charities and TiiLsl¢e Illvesiment (ScOtli￿d) Act 2005 and the Charities
Accounts (Scoliand) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the
audil requirement of Regulation 10(1) {d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply.
It is my responsibility to examine the accounts ￿ required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act
and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's ststement
My examination is carried out in accordancc with Regulation I l of th¢ 2006 Accounts
Rcgulations. An examination includes a r¢view of thc aGcoullting records k¢pt by the charity
and a comparison of th¢ accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration
of any unusual Ile￿S or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the lrnstees
concerning any such matters. 'I'he procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidenc£ that
would be required in an audit and cons¢quendy I do not express an audit opinion on the view
given by the accounts.
Independent enminer's statement
In the course of my exaTnination, no matter has comc to my attention
l. which gives me reasonable cause to believe tha¢ in any material respe¢L the
requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance wtth Section 44(1) (&) of th¢ 2005 Act and
R¢8ulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
lu pr￿p¢￿e accoullts which accord with the accounting records and comply with
Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been meL or
