Trustees, Responsibilities in Relation to the financial Statements
The charity trustees are responsible for preparing a trts5tees' annual report and financial ststements in
accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounts"ng 5tsndards (United Kingdom Generallv
Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to chawities in Scotland require5 the charity trustees to prepare financial statements for
each year which show a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming
resources and application of resources. of the charsty for that period. In preparing the financial
statimènts, the trustees are required to:
select suitsble accounting policies and then apply them con5iStently;
observe the method and principles in the Charities SORP-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and Pfudent;
State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been
followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial ststements,.
prepare the financial statements on the going concern ba515 unless it is inappropriate to presume
that the charity will continue in operational existence.
The trustee5 are responsible for keeping proper accountin8 records vknich disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any tlme the financial position of the charity and to enablè them to ensure that the financial
statements cornply with the Charities and Trustee Investment Istotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities
Accounts (Scotlandl Regulations 2006 las amended). They are also responsible for safeguarding the
assets of the charity and hence for taking reasoriable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and
other irregularities.
The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the charity and financial information on
the congregation's website. Legislation in the United Kingdom goveming the preparation and
