Finance and Activities

The accounts for the year show an income of £247,410 and expenditure of £218,118 which resulted in a surplus of £29,292. During the course of the year £5,000 from the general funds was set aside and added to the reserves. This increased the reserves to £30,000 (approximately equal to 2 months expenditure).

During 2023 there was considerable expenditure on the refurbishment of the rented unit at 50 Clarendon Place. This has now become a multi-purpose community hub, with direct access from the street front, offering friendship, lunch clubs, counselling and general support to those in the local community. The “Hub” is also used for social gatherings, church meetings and other activities. Normal church and community activities have been maintained throughout the year. These include:

• Sunday Services with an invitation to members, adherents and community neighbours to meet for worship and fellowship.

• Lunch Clubs in the “Hub” (a linked shop style unit which has a frontage to Clarendon Place). Neighbours from the community and church members mingle and socialise over a free provided lunch.

• Addiction and Community Services: In cooperation with The Haven (Teen Challenge), those with addiction issues are invited to chat with experienced counsellors to help and advise on breaking habits. Those with financial and housing problems are offered help and assistance through Bethany Christian Trust operating in the church.

• Youth activities: managed by a fulltime youth worker with planned weekly activities, social outings and sponsored challenges including missions to special need camps in foreign countries.

• Men’s social gatherings and outings: These programmes give opportunity for men in the church and community to get together for chat and food.

• The weekly mother and toddler group held in the church during school term time. This is open to local mothers to attend without charge.

• Ceilidhs for either social or fund-raising events are arranged as required.

During the course of a year various external Christian charities or other organisations have used the church main hall for music, social, educational and religious events.

Employment:

The church currently has four paid employees: two full time and two-part time. The full-time employees consist of the Pastor and the Youth Worker who is involved with both the children of church attenders and those within the local schools. Two part-time employees are also employed: one as a part time Associate Pastor and the other is involved in the maintenance and cleanliness of the property.

Property:

The Church owns the property at 56 Clarendon Place and the manse at 40 Russell Drive, Bearsden. The deeds of both properties are held by the Church.

Serving Trustees have not benefitted from their position. No payments have been received and no involvement with any third parties. The Trustees are pleased to present this report for the year to 30th November 2024.
