The Edinburgh Archaeological Field Society comprises of a wide range of people with a common interest in all activities relating to archaeology. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive community where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to archaeological practice. Our ongoing efforts include actively seeking out and encouraging participation from the local community as well as broader representation from students and other interested persons. We have been involved in fieldwalking, watching briefs, GIS, survey and excavation in conjunction with other local archaeological organisations. We work closely with Local Authority Archaeological Services, the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland. A number of our members have developed expertise in a variety of specialist subjects. Over the years EAFS has grown a reputation for geophysical survey in support of other non- commercial organisations.
