The Scottish Lharity Number is SC006472. As part of the establishment of the SCIO a new constitution was agreed by church members on l October 2023 and approvcd by the Office of thc Scottish Charity Regulator on 21 December 2023. The new SCIO. Dalkeith Baptist Church SCIO (SC053027) has been 5Ct up to replac¢ Dalkeiih Baptist Church (SC006472). The Iransfer of Assets and Liabiliti¢s from Dalkeith Baptist Church to Dalkeith Baptist Church SCIO will be completed next year. After ihis Dalkeiih B&ptist Church will be fully wound up. Alms and Afflllatlon Th¢ ChurGh provideg an environmcnt and & place for menibeT5 to worship and lo express their faith in the Lord Jcsu8 Christ. The Church also givcs support lo meet thc physical and spirimal necds of mcmbcrs, based on the teachings coniained in the Bible. The Church a150 suprrf)rts activities involving the local community, as well as Ih05¢ involving national and international bodies. The Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Scorland. The day lo day running of the Cliurch is un(krtakcn by the mcmbers of the Leadership group which includes the thrce trustees. The property held by the Church is in ihe name of the current Trustee&. Appointment of Leadershlp Group The ele¢rion of ihe Leadership tak¢s pla¢¢ every four years. Members of the group must sland down from thcir positions but ale eligible for re-election. Members of the Church who are al least twenty years of age ai the dale of eleetion or c(Foption may be elected or co-opted. Appropriate candidates should nornlally have been active in Christian work for al least ttvo years and have demonstrated their fiill involvement in the life of the Church through rcgular attendancc al thc Sunday Services and prayer meetings for ai least one year. Those who have artracled the support of al least sixty percent of the mcmbcrs voting shall bc invited to seive oi) the group. Given that all new m¢mbeTS of the group will have been member5 of the Church for a numkr of years, it is expected t]iat Ihcy will b familiar wi¢h Ihosc aLlivitiCs which fortn part uf Ihc lifc uf Ihe Church. Furth¢r Lumpcl¢n¢e is developrd throug& 'on the job. experience and guidance. The main purposes of ihe group are to assist the P&5tor in the pastor&l care of the congregttion, lo consider filre directions for the congregational life and to oversee the practical 8dminislrarion of the Church. including finance. fabric and the arrangements for rneetin8S 2nd services. None of the members of the group receive any honorarium for their work. Any volunteers who help in organising events do not receive any remuneration other than reimbursed expenses. Arhtevement5 and perfDrmance The number of members of ihe fellowship remained fairly static during the year but we were encouraged hy the faith1 participaiion of those rnembers in church activities and by their growth in grace. We have been encouraged by the participation of younger people too. There was renewed &ctivity in Cowoperation with local churches in 2023 and activity in co-operation with other lo¢ charities continu¢d during the y¢aT, With th¢ premises being us¢d by Horizons recovery café, Alzhcimcr's dementia café and th¢ R¢d Cross. The running of an Alpha course during the aurumn provided an opporninity for the involvement of a wider circle of rnemberq and there was an encouraging number of attendees. Recent months, in 2024, have seen a small but encouraging increase in attendances on Sundays. We continue to face the tUre confident in the power, sovereignty and faithIneSS of the God whom we love and serve. FlnAn¢lal rewlcw PrinLipal&ource& offundinz Donations received from members of the Church form the main source of incorne of rhe Church. As a registered charity, the chiirch alsn reclaims Gift Aid frorn HMRC. The church also received & sm&ll amount of inleresi from funds held on deposit in 2023. Resultsfor theyet7r The financial statements for the y¢ar are set out in pages 4 to 8. The Receipts und Pa)Tn¢nts Account on pagc 4 rcflccts a d¢ficil of £4,962 (2022.. surplus of £13,601). Total reserves as al 31 December 2023 were. £105,522 (2022-. £110.484), with a general fimd of £53,012 (2022.- £60,284) and restricted fund5 of £52.510 (2022.. £502(M)). Reserves The policy of the Church is to aim to maintain unrestricted funds which are sufficient to cover two months, running costs of the Church. The current level of reserves me¢ts this aim.
