The Interconnertion newsletter is dlstrfbuted weekty among the three congregatSons of the unttlnB charges as well as Barnhill St Margareys. Previously known as Keeping Connertions. it changed its name in November 2021 to expand its distribution base across the 3 CO￿regatIonS as we needed a unified method of communication. It has been used to Intimate any important inforniation from the Presbytery and ￿rk Sessions about the Union, and other essential everyday routine infomat]on. The email list is now over 60 people In the St James distribution. It continues to be hand4elivered weekly to about 28 people from the St James roll who are housebound or othen¥ise unable to attend church. Paper copies are also available across the thrtt ¢hurthes on a Sunday morning and to pick up during the week. It also contlnues to be uploaded onto the BF Stjames Facebook page every v￿ek. . Meetlngs are held every three months and St James currently holds the chair. Our St James knitter5 and crochet experts continued to (Teate hats. scarves, and other cosy Items which were used to complete the filling of 150 shoe boxes for Blythswood. Thirty Christmas Parcels were wr4pped and sent to the Sailors Society as gtfts for.seamen and women away from home. £273.00 wa5 donated to the Ukraine Appeal in April. Easter eggs In knttted chkker￿shèPed ccNers were glven out for Easter at St Luke's coffee time. ' In May. a group from each of the unttln8 churches again walked the three parish boundaries raising £365.00 for Christian Ald. Good opwrtunities were se￿￿ for a chat tO8ether with risking wsslble future muscle pain over three and a half hours. Some took part in a Christlan coffee rnoming at Barnhill St Mar8areVs church. Our three-church Open Church V￿ek was during the first week in July which is Broughty Ferry Gala Week. It was well supported by people vtsiting StJame5 to see the Acorn Quilters Exhibityon. which included alternative art pieces. These reminded us vtsually of some of the histories of Broughty. Ferry and Dundee. Refreshments were provlded as nornial. so our8uests could have a ￿5t and a chat. The sum rnlsed was É1026.iX) including a generous donatlon from Acorn Quilters. This was dfvlded equalty between the Scotttsh Association For Mentsl Health and Tear Fund {£513.00 to each charltyl A church lunch was held forthe three Cong￿ationS in St James on 8th September, rdlslng £166.00. for Dundee Youth for Chrlst. It is expected to be provlded till the end of March. A grant was secured from Dundee Partnership. and the ￿arni spov Is being staffed by volunteers from the three uniting congregations. So far. It has been a great sutcess, Partlcularly among older members of the communty, some members of the local churches. some supporter5 of Stjames but members of other churches, some with no church connett￿n and some just dropping in. Every week. Most of those attending a olderfolk with several in thelr nlneties and many in thelr elghties. They say that they appreciate not just the soup and hot drinks. but the.wanm welcome and the company. The second meetlng that the Sesslon Clerks had su88ested dld not take place, The IndlcatNe vote took place on 16, October, and the results announced formed the Basls of Unlon, wlth St James, New Kirk, and the St Aidan's Centre being retained while St Luke's and Queen Street was to be disposed of. The vote for the Basls of Union took Pla￿ on iilh December. The vote of St Luke's and Queen Street showed a discrepancy at that tlme so it had to be repeated on 22 January 2023. As Dundee Presbytery should provlde the Klrk Sesslon and con8re8atlon.with an Important Ilnk between the par15h and the wlder structures of the Church, as It Is now known that the requirements of Presbytery In votlng for the bas15 Of unlon were flawed. Shared Experlences.. Rev Gardner, Interim M5nlster of Barnhlll St marsa￿￿5 church Iwithln the Broughty Ferry Grouping) was our guest preacher on I" January 2023 In St Luke's and Queen Street church. He and hls congregatlon were wamily welcomed to be part of our New Yearfs Day servlce. The church servlces can be well attended, partlcularly on Important occasions, althou8h some members still prefer to priorltise their attendance in their horne church. &)me of the more musical of us have l0Sned the church c￿)Ir and our muslclans contrlbute to the praise band and other accompaniments as requested. We are pleased to welcome our supply or8anist and pianist to play on most Sundays. We enjoyed the build-up to Christmas Day worship in St James wlth dlfferent styles of service, withln sanctuary or a garden of the other churches. The Covid levels pemiitted the Chrfstingle service this year in St Luke's and Queen Street which allowed a ferun of the Nativity Show, a particular pleasure for some who could not attend on the orlglnal date. 2. The voting must be redone in the context of a vote wrthin Kirksessions as well as in separate co'ngregational meetings when discussion and questions are permitted before the vote. 4. Group meetlng arrangements-A 5tsrt was made wtth the work done ty groups orranged byRev Strachan in 2021. 5. The Guild: There has been a good turnout at the meetings sintr the newty amaigamated Guild met first In September 2022. The meetings are 4n opportunity to meet for fellowshlp with others. The Guild meetings follow a pattem of worship time. di5CUS5ing business. a Speaker. or activity followed by tea, coffee, with a chat together. Fundraisin8 is an Important part of the work of the Guild, as money is being rdised for the chosen Guild Projert5. At the very successful Christmas Fair in November £1.800 was ratsed. The proceeds of the Guild Scots Night hosted by St James went into Gulld Funds. One meeting allowed Gulld attendees to ring handbells and at another. they were infomied of curfty and data Tssues COn￿mIng thelr mobile phones. The Guild had a Christmas party in December. 7. The Sunday schools and Junlor church group5 have united very SU￿Ssfully. The home church Sunday School leaders pro%ryde the teachin8 materials forthe whole group. and the other leaders support the whole. The weekly Kids Connections can be used as a worksheet in Sunday khool. We are enjoying the company of other children when they vlslt. e.g., at events such as the chararterful NatNity In New Klrk at Christmas. The children a150 enjoyed tsking part in the Christingle service at St Luke's and Queen Street. We contlnue to encourage thildren to attend Sunday School, to make Sunday Sthool time as fvn and interestin8 as possible. e&- at Chrlstmas treat our church children wlth chocolate advent ca￿ndarS to tske home to enjoy. .
