Lochaber Schools Pipe Band was set up to give school pupils in the Lochaber area the chance to learn and perform piping and drumming regardless of their financial situation. A key founding principle is that all tuition is provided free of charge, with instruments available to borrow, so no young person is excluded due to cost. The band is funded through fundraising and donations rather than school or council budgets. It performs regularly at local events for both locals and tourists, helping keep traditional piping and drumming alive in the community. Through rehearsals and performances, members gain musical skills, confidence, teamwork, self-discipline, and commitment. The band aims to enrich local culture while giving young people valuable experiences - and to make sure members enjoy themselves while taking part.

Objectives: To advance the education of its members and the public in the art of Highland piping and pipe band drumming through public performance.
