Governing Document
The Crossroads & District Young Farmers Club is an unincorporated charity. As governed by our constitution, the club provides activities, which further personal development, cultural education and training of young people to make rural life more attractive to the young members of the community.
Charitable Purposes
-
To advance the education and training of young people at large in rural issues, agriculture, homecrafts and related subjects.

To advance the development of active citizens through development of individuals' involvement within their local community and leadership of their Young Farmer Group.

In the interests of social welfare of young people in rural Scotland, to provide and promote the provision of activities for recreation and other leisure time occupations which will improve their conditions of life and will assist in the development of their spiritual and mental capacities and self-reliance and individual responsibility.
Trustee Recruitment and Appointment
Trustees shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and appointed by a majority vote. Trustees shall retire annually at the Annual General Meeting but the Committee shall have powers to co-opt and appoint should a vacancy occur in the committee during the year.
Members are given responsibility throughout the year which includes proposing a vote of thanks at the end of meetings, being appointed sports captains and organising tournaments. Giving members this responsibility as well as those who are a part of the committee helps members learn what the running of the club involves.
The clubs Management Committee are appointed by the members at our annual general meeting, which is held in March each year. The Chairman elected was Fraser Graham, Secretary was Holly Leitch and Treasurer was Gregor Young.
Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects
The activities which the club routinely takes to meet its objectives were as follows.

Awareness of rural issues is developed with agricultural visits and education on animal husbandry including competitions; stockjudging and cattle dressing.

Knowledge of machinery and handicrafts is enhanced through learning new skills and in competitions such as Agri-Skills.

Personal welfare and development is enhanced through singing, dancing, acting and speaking performances, at concerts, drama and speechmaking.

Mental and physical health is enhanced through sports recreation.

Travel talks, farm walks and exchanges broaden horizons.

Active citizenship is enhan¢ed through charity work and progfyssing through the ¢ommittee and office bearer positions. Various lèisure activrties, talks and visits are organised to further the cultural education and training of young people. Achievements and erfomiance The Club has organised an extensive range of activities and events throughout the year. all of which meèt the club objectivès. Our first club meeting of the new syllabus was tha fun filled new members, games night on Monday 11 March in Craigie Village Hall where some of us were left feeling very old! Our Rally Demo night wa5 held on Monday 18 March, where Janette Cou5ar came along to give us Some baking tIP5, as wèll as providing half hourdemos for us. Next up our Clay Pigeon Shoot took place on the Sunday 24 March at Blackstone Shooting Ground. Dalry Where was I, forjunior Boys. took I for the senior boys andWI I" for thè girls. Our last event of March was a wÈll-attèndÈd football and nètball tournament at St Josèph's Academy in conjunction with Mauchline YFC. On l April we held our Mock Auction and Valuation in conjunction with Ayr YFC at Drumsuie Farm by kind permission of the Following this on Friday 12 we held our annual Beetle Drive in Craigie Village Hall whére wè hèld stalls and games for young family and friends from thè surrounding area. Another great turnout, and fun night was had by all. Our Tractor and Hander Driving competition took place on Monday 21, April at Stafflar Fami. by kind permission of the With taking 1st place in sènior and junior sections for both the tractor and handler. May was a busy month with members competingacross competitions at Ayr Show followed bythe Ayrshire County Rally, the club held Some rally sports practices, at Braehead Farm Iby kind permission of the l and car driving at Langholm Farm (by kind permission of the . We held our Stock Demonstration on Monday 6 May at West Scoutts Farm by kind permission of the Hodge family. The judges on the night were won thè sénior competition and the junior competition. May seen the start of our silaga pit sheeting which was a great success once again and continued throughoutthe summer months. Moving into June we had our sta115 at Newmilns Show with facepainting, lots of fun artivities for all the family. Following last yearfs success we once again hosted the Newmilns Show Dance in the show field which was a great night for all in attendance. On Sunday 9 June we joined up wrfch
Kilmaurs to hold our Ho¢key Toumament at Marr Playing Fields where an unfortunately poor turn out with only 3 teams competing on the night. After recovering from a busy week at the Highland Show we held our Annual Car treasure hunt beginning at the hub and finishing with some well fired burger5 on the BBQ back at Craigie Village Hall. *** July kicked off with somè reminiscing of concerts past with our concert ideas meeting at Fortacres Farm by kind permission of the Following this we held our Volleyball Tournament on Monday 15 June at Catcraig Farm, by kind pemiission of the It was once again a busy night whèn lot5 of team5 in attèndance. Next up was a nèw meeting to our syllabus our Junior Jaunt on Wednesday 17 July, this was a brilliant day out with 18 (mostly Junior) members catching the ferry to Arran to take on Goatfell. A great achievement for all involved. Onto our Blind drop which thi5 year wa5 held in the Eaglesham Parish on Sunday 21 July- big thank5 t for making up the route and well done to team forcomingout on top. To end the month we held our club sports night on Monday 29 July at Low Oallars Farm, Kilmarnock, by kind permission of the Kerr family. Overall winners on the night were for the boys and1 for the girls. A fun night with ¢ompètitivè spirit- shamè about the weathér ¢oncÈlling our watèr fight plans. Into August we began concert practises, Saturday the 10th of August saw the return of Craigie Show at Langholm farm by kind permission of the Baird family. We had our stand with various cornpetition5 throughout the day. Shortly after Sunday 11 we held our Beef Cattle dressing Demo. Wednesday 21st August marked the return of our open dairy stock judging competition, held at Braehead Farm, Kilmarnock, by kind permission from the It was a fantastic evening, offèring a grèat challèngè to our mèmbèrs with all Jersèy classes fèaturèd throughout thè night. Next up on Friday 23 August was our 10 Pin Bowling at the Garage. Kilmarnock. It was a well- attended night as always and and claimed the titles of Kingand Queen pin. On Monday 26, August wa5 our Quiz Night with qU12masters and going home victorious. Our winter syllabus kicked off w.rth our exchange weekend with Staid YFC, we hosted 10 of their
members attending Mauchline and Ayr's beef and sheep stockjudging and Strathaven show speed shéèr and dancè. A 8rÈat wèèkènd was had by all in atténdancè. Thè following Monday 9 September we held our Matter of Opinion night in Craigie Village Hall. On Saturday 14 September we held our Dairy Cattle Dressing at Shaklehill Farm by kind permission of the with winning on the day. On Sunday 29 September we held our club root & industrial competition where judged lots of great èntries. joint l in the industrial section and winning the roots section.
October was another jampacked month for the club starting with our Open Beef and Sheep Stockjudging in conjunction with Kilamrus at Crawlaw Farm by kind permission of the . Following this we entered the National Bale art competition with our big pink elephant on the side of the A77, this was a hit with the locals drawing in lots of attention in the facebook comments. We held our first ever Badminton night Monday 14[th] October with an amazing turnout of 30 members on the night at the William MacIlveny Campus, Kilmarnock. This great turn out lead to us having a whopping 9 teams entered for the west competition. Onto another new meeting out club outing to Death Valley View at Goulding Garden Centre was a great success, everyone having some Halloween fun and enjoyed toasting marshmallows at the end. Keeping the new meetings coming we ended the month with out visit to Armour Vet Group, this was a fantastic night seeing behind the scenes of what goes on in a mixed vet practice another well attended meeting. A fantastic start to November saw the cast of our annual variety concert entitled ‘Aquarium Days are Number & The NC500’ take on a new venue this year performing at the centre stage and what a performance it was. Well done everyone involved. Next in our syllabus was our second new members night of the year on Monday 18[th] November. It was a really great night well run and organised by our junior committee members, with Rory’s team winning on the night. Moving onto Monday 25[th] November we held our tea bingo night with a good attendance making it an enjoyable night.
As we moved into December we held our Tavel Talk at Craigie village hall on Monday 2[nd] December, our speakers were and on their SAYFC travel to Vietnam, on his working travel to Canada and on his travel to 5 Nations Conference and other solo trips. After last year’s success, we swapped our annual curling night for ice skating, this time at the East Kilbride Shopping Centre Ice Rink. It was a great chance to connect with our linked club, Loch Lomond YFC, as part of the West region’s goals. A fun night with no injuries!
In to the New Year, there was no slowing down with our first ever Charity Dyno Day in conjunction with Ayr YFC. There was a great turn out of 54 tractor and £2124 raised for RSABI. Credit to for coming up with the brilliant idea. On Monday 13[th] January we had our panel night chaired by 6 years past chairman , with panel members
keeping us entertained! On Wednesday 15[th] January we held our Dairy Stockjudging and reasons giving in conjunction with Kilmaurs YFC at Low Dallers Farm by kind permission of the . With judging and placed 1[st] in the seniors’ boys, in the junior boys, in the senior girls and in the junior girls. Finally in January, on Saturday 18[th] January we hosted another very enjoyable Burns Supper with some excellent speeches.

The round off an extremely successful year for the club, we held our annual presentation dinner
dance on Saturday 15[th] February, this year at the Dumfries Arms Hotel in Cumnock. A great
presentation of the members achievements over the year and was a very enjoyable night for all.
Future Developments
The Club will continue to organise activities, which meet the objectives of the Club. We will continue to promote the Young Farmers Association in the local community through charity work and volunteering. We hope to improve upon our range of activities to encourage members from non – farming backgrounds to take part. We will try and avoid our meetings clashing with other events throughout the Young Farmers diary and finally the committee will work to encourage members, young and old, to attend meetings and take part in a range of competitions.
