Governing Document
The Church As administered in accordance with the tern￿ of the Deeds of Constitution
(Unit8ry Fomi)
Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees
Members of the Kirk Session are the charity trustees. The Kirk Session members
are the elders of the church and arc chosen from thos¢ members of Ihc chur¢h who are
considcrcd to have the appropriate gifts and ski115. Sinc¢ March 2022 when our Minister retired,
we hAve been tortunate to have our s¢rvi¢¢s led by m¢mbers of our ¢onsre8ation and other
friends of the Church.
Org8nisational Structure
The Kirk Session is responsible for spiritual and iemporal affairs within the church.
It nonnally m¢ets six times a year. or as often as is ne¢¢ssary to fulfill its responsibilities.
Objectives and Activities
The Church of Scotland is Trinitsrian in doctrine, Refornjed in tradilion and Preshyterian in
policy. It eXlSts to glorify God and to work for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom
throughout the world. As a national Church, it acknowledges a distinctive call and duty to bring
the ordinanc¢s of religion to the people in every parish of Scotland through a t¢rritorial
ministry. li co-operates with other Churches in varAOUS ecumenical bodies in Scotland and
beyond.
Muthill Parish Chuwh of Scotland Conducts Services of Worship every Sunday and other
Services to commemorate special events eg.Christmas and EasteT.We hold a Sunday School,
Guild, and weekly Lunch Club (non-denominational providin8 a Warni Space). Various
activities are for the wider community e8.qulz nighis,coffee mornin8s,film nights in
conjunction with neighbouTing Episcopal Church, in our refurbished building.

Achievements and Performance
We now produce a weeklyvideo recording of our services which is distributed vla YouTube to
those unable to attend chU￿h and as rccordings to housebound m¢mb¢rs who lack internet cOnn￿tion.
We support our spiritual development through housegroupg organised by s¢v¢ral members of the
congregation, and have re-established weekly Scripture Union meetings for children.
Flnancial Revlew
The results for the year ended 31 st December 2024 are shown in the Receipts and Payments Accounts
Accounts on Page 7 and the Staletnent of Balancct• 15 S¢t out on Page 8. These should be read in
conjunction with the Notes to the Accounts on Pages 9-12.
Total receipts amounted to £102.436 and tothl paymerlts £123.337
This gave rise to a deficit for th¢ year of £20,901. The comparative figures For 2023 were Reccipts
£70163 and total payments £86150. This gave rise lo a deficit for the year of £15987
The principal sources of income to the General Fund (the day-to-day operating accounl of the Church)
are includ¢d at Nole 2 under thc hcadin8 Unreslricted Funds. Thcse totallcd £55,441 ¢ompar¢d
with the 2023 figure of £42831. Total Ordinary (ieneral Expenditure for 2024 amounted to £54,639
(2023: £40439) resulting in a SUTplus in Ordinary General Income of £802 (2023: £1892).
The Trustees rcgard the overall financial postion of the charity io be sound due to substsntial
reserves of Uwestricted ￿ndS a¢¢umulated in the pasL but note that no regular payments
are being made to an incumbant Minister.
Reserves Policy
The Muthill Kirk Session Fund represents the balance of the Reserves held by the Chuwh. At the end of the
financial year £48,182 (35.3 % ) was invested in bank deposits and £88,604 (64.7 % ) in Quot¢d Inv¢stmcnts
at cosl. It is the the Trustees Policy to hold bank balances sufficienl to cover ihe Ordinary General Expenditure
for th¢ ¢nsuing year and to utilise the income from this ￿fftd io defray non-rccurrtng Iterns of expenditure.

Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities
The rnembers of the Kirk Session are required to prepare financial statements which give
sufficient delail to enable an appr¢ciation of ihe transaLtions of the Church during the financial
year. The members of the Kirk Session are responsible for keeping proper accountin8 records
which. on requc5t, Inu51 reflect Ihe financial position of the Church at that lime. This M￿￿1 be
done to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities and Trustee Investment
(Scotland) Act 2005, the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and the Regulations
Anent Congregational Finance approved by the G¢neral Assembly of the Church of Scotland in
2007. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assels of the Church and musi take
reasonable steps for the prevention andlor detection of fraud and other irrcgulariti¢s.

The charity trustees consider that an independent examination is n¢eded under s¢ction 44(1)(c) of the
Charities and Trustee Jnve8tment (Scotland) Act 2005. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts
under Section 44(IMc) of th¢ Act and to slate whether particular matt¢rs hav¢ Come to my attention.

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kepi by the charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented with those records. li also includes cO￿lderatIon of any unusual items or disclosures in
the accounts. and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures
undertaken do not provide all thc evidenc¢ that would be required in an audit, and cons¢qu¢ntly I do not
express an audit opinion on the accounts.
