**What the charity does:** The Saltire Society is one of Scotland’s leading supporters of culture. For almost 90 years we have been committed to Scottish innovation and creativity, from social housing design and literature to public art and emerging creatives. The Saltire Society upholds its founding principles of inspiring culture and platforming responsible debate for contemporary Scotland. The Society has a broad international outlook and is not affiliated with any political party. Our awards programme includes: The Saltires - Scotland’s National Book Awards and the Fletcher of Saltoun Awards, rewarding the contributions of individuals working in Arts and Humanities, Science, and Public Life. We host regular events at branches throughout Scotland and an annual Fletcher of Saltoun Lecture and support the work of other organisations.

**Objectives:** 1) The Objectives of the Society shall be educational, cultural, and exclusively charitable in law, namely, to: a) increase public awareness of Scotland&#x27;s distinct natural and cultural heritage in all its richness and diversity and foster the cherishing and enrichment of all aspects of that heritage, including the Scots and Gaelic languages. b) enhance the quality of Scotland&#x27;s contribution to all the arts and sciences by encouraging creativity, inventiveness, and the achievement of the highest standards of excellence in these fields. c) build on the achievements of the past to advance Scotland&#x27;s standing as a vibrant, creative force in European civilisation. d) improve all aspects of Scottish life and letters at home and abroad and strengthen Scotland&#x27;s cultural links with other countries and peoples. e) from time to time as may be required, participate in the establishment of other charities bodies with purposes substantially the same as or connected to those of the Society.
