Objectives and activities
Our Society was set up in 1896 to bring enjoyment to the local community through music and singing. The society originally performed Operatics. This evolved over the years and we now perform musicals from different eras and styles. The society was originally called Cupar Amateur Opera Company.
Every May we have a fundraising concert over 2 nights to boost our reserves as performing a main musical is expensive. We then perform a different musical each year, over 5 nights, the first full week of February.
This year’s performance was Sunshine on Leith, which is very apt as Craig & Charlie Reid (The Proclaimers) hail from Auchtermuchty and went to Bell Baxter, Cupar’s high school.

We did manage to carry out some fundraising throughout the year. We sang carols in our local Tesco store at Christmas, held our annual coffee morning in February, had a quiz night in January and promoted CAMS at a stall at the local Farmers Market. During the concert and main show performances, we held raffles and sold refreshments and programmes.

At our AGM, committee members stepped down and new committee members were voted on my society members. Committee members are expected to serve for 3 years
Achievements and performance
The production of Cams in Concert was handed over from Ruth Anderson to Rachel McNicol, Neil Jarrett & Andrew Doig, who continued to produce a concert of the high standard Cupar audiences expect. Sunshine on Leith was almost sold out for each performance and CAMS used a video wall at the back of the stage for the first time, which allowed for a more immersive experience for audiences.
During show week, we had a bucket collection and donated the proceeds to other local charities. This year’s collection was again given to Cupar Age Concern.

Financial review
Statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
Our reserves have reduced this year and they are not at the level we would expect and this is currently being investigated.
Details of any profit
Sunshine on Leith and our concert were a success and we were able to have a small surplus by year end (£1,024).
Future plans
Next year’s main show will be Sister Act and we plan to have our annual fundraising concerts as usual.
