The objectives of the Union, for the public benefit ,continue to provide recreational facilities and activities for the students at Glasgow University and to provide a centre to which clubs and societies can affiliate. To help promote the advancement of education and to raise awareness of the welfare and support services at Glasgow University. To provide citizenship and community development amongst students and local residents through involvement within the union and participation in activities and events. To promote better understanding of international cultures and promote integration of international students through the advancement of heritage ,culture, science, sport and arts amongst the students at Glasgow University.

Objectives: The objects of the Union, for the public benefit, shall be: (a) to provide recreational facilities, the organisation of recreational activities and welfare support services to students in full or part-time education and to fulfil the function of a Club, particularly for Members, at which the objects of the Union are promoted and which forms a centre to which various University Societies may be affiliated. (b) the advancement of education, particularly among the student population of the University of Glasgow. (c) to promote the concept of citizenship and community development particularly among the young and the students of Glasgow University, including through the concept of participation in Debating as a vital component of citizenship. (d) the advancement of the arts, heritage , culture, science and participation in sport, including through promoting the understanding of cultures among students of the University of Glasgow, promoting the integration of international students from a variety of cultures into the life of the University of Glasgow, promoting and supporting University Societies and clubs and providing a place of social intercourse and activity.
