The Church of Scotland is Trinitarian in doctrine, Reformed in tradition and Presbyterian in polity. It exists to glorify God and to work for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom throughout the world. As a national Church, it acknowledges a distinctive call and duty to bring the ordinances of religion to the people in every parish of Scotland through a territorial ministry. It co-operates with other Churches in various ecumenical bodies in Scotland and beyond. The charity comprises 17 Church of Scotland local worshipping communities serving almost the whole geographical extent of the historic county of Orkney as one parish. It conducts worship for most of its congregations every Sunday (less frequently or mid week in the Outer Isles), with joint services from time to time with neighbouring congregations and/or other denominations and locally hosts a variety of youth activities, fellowship meetings and social events as relevant to each locality
