Angus Federation has had a busy year.

In November we held a quiz. 39 teams participated and as well as having an enjoyable evening a considerable amount of money was raised for our funds. A Christmas Singalong was enjoyed in December and now in February we are looking forward to Matter of Opinion as well as the start of sporting events. Sporting activities are popular in Angus despite the disappointment of not always having a National Competition to progress to.

Curling is always well supported, helped by the fact that we have an ice rink in Forfar. Golf is also popular, and we have a competition to look forward to in March.

We also have indoor bowlers, and some members have tried taster sessions of walking netball and pickleball.

Of course, this year has been Ruralympics and Angus hosted the National Competition with 18 teams attending from all over Scotland. It was a well organised, enjoyable day. Two weeks later at the same venue our Federation round was held. A busy time for all.

In April we will hold our ACWW walk and of course there is our Federation Show to look forward to.

This event is huge. Held in the Reid Hall, Forfar it is very popular and as well as attracting over a thousand entries it is popular with the public who know from experience that they will see exhibits of a high standard.

With a new convenor and a dedicated committee Handcrafts and Homeskills continues to grow in popularity. Five meetings a year are organised over the winter and approximately 100 ladies attending and the programme covers a range of interesting topics with competitions and a raffle at each.

They also arrange skills schools and support those applying for Proficiency Certificates and Judges Tests

Our institutes are eager to celebrate milestones and this year there have been a number of such celebrations for ‘birthdays ‘ 100 years and over. And still going strong!

It has been our President’s aim to get Junior Dippers up and running and to this end a venue has been organised and interested members have offered their support. A grant has also been secured from HQ. However, due to illness this is currently on hold.
