Follow up from 2023/34 .

The Youth team became Scottish Champions once again. Girls Like That received excellent reviews. The Wizard of Oz was staged in June and delighted audiences.

Social Events

In September we had a most enjoyable afternoon tea when members and patrons came to the Turret to collect their centenary booklets.

The Golf Outing was again a happy event with laiming the trophy. as now passed the organisation of this event to 2025 event will be Sunday 28[th] September.

We partied the night away to round off our centenary celebrations with an all-members event in Campsie Memorial Hall in September. Youths and their parents, members and patron members joined in games and dancing and food. We joined up with Antonine Players at The Fort Theatre for a Karaoke Evening. Thanks to all the hard-working teams who arranged these events.

.

Theatre

A lot of work goes in to the day-to-day upkeep of The Turret. We are inclined to take for granted the provision of paper towels, loo rolls, tea bags, the cleaning, removal of rubbish, the arranging of the PAT testing………., All very necessary tasks which are not undertaken by the magic elves! Members are reminded that the Turret belongs to all the members of Kirkintilloch Players and we must all do our part to keep the Turret clean and safe. Thanks to those of you who already do your share. We have now our own rubbish bin outside which negates the need for members to take the rubbish home to their own bins. Thanks to everyone who did this over many years.

We have had to undertake some major works this year too:-

Thanks to everyone who helped by arranging access for the workmen and particular thanks to or project-managing these essential works.

nd

The upgrading of our technical equipment saw the purchase of a Mac Book laptop which is a single device to set and run sound, lights and projection. It was successfully used during Panto and is currently being used both at youth festival and for spring play.

The laptop coupled with the software Q lab simplifies operating systems and allows more people the chance to be able to use the lights and sound equipment.

Productions

Good Things by was produced by . Set in a charity shop an appeal was made to members and patrons to donate suitable items to stock the shop. They did not disappoint and after the show these items were donated to Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation. Winners all round. The set was fantastic and the acting first class. So everyone was happy.

Music From The Movies, with in charge, once again delighted audiences. This followed immediately after Good Things and this made for an extremely tight turn round time. In future we will need to ensure more time between productions.

Next up was that classic panto Snow White. were the trio driving this

forward. A strong cast brought the tale to life with great costumes, magical set, music and dancing. A superb team effort.

SCDA One Act Festival

A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad)

As this report is being prepared we have two more productions in rehearsal. in charge of Allo, Allo (well as much as anyone can be in charge with the Resistance, the Gestapo and with flighty barmaids all around) Promises to be a fun-filled show.

The last production of the 2024/25 season will be our Youth Show. Who doesn’t love Shrek? and her talented team are looking forward to bringing the loveable green Shrek to life.

Several long-time residents of Kirkintilloch admitting that they had never known we were here! Interest was sparked with promises to spread the word and to come along in the future. Thanks to the members who acted a tour guides.

The problems with the website were eventually resolved.

Facebook was successfully used to publicise our events.

Inventory of scripts was undertaken and these are now available for members to borrow.

To address to need for more back-stage and set building members an appeal was made via Facebook and hopefully this will prove beneficial in the long-term.
