Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of education','the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science'

The charity is set up to promote archaeology and, more generally, historical heritage in Tayside and Fife by bringing it to as broad an audience as possible. All of the trustees are volunteers and the only trustee to receive a fee for work undertaken on behalf of the charity is Derek Hall who edits our annual peer-reviewed journal. In addition to producing a free to access online journal and a Newsletter, TAFAC organises an annual conference featuring recent archaeological work in the area. The charity has always strived to keep the ticket price for this event as low as possible. The annual conference is a live event as well as being accessible online. The trustees hold three business meetings and an AGM each year. One business meeting is held at an actual venue whilst the other meeting are held on-line. The charity also has an active social media presence.

Objectives: The objects of the Committee shall be (i) actively to further the cause of Archaeology within the Regions of Tayside and Fife in whatever ways it shall deem desirable. (ii) to maintain liaison with similar groups elsewhere, local archaeological and historical societies, Local Authorities, Governmental and other bodies on matters of mutual concern.
