## **Objectives**

The Objectives of the Church are:

- but also throughout Scotland and the rest of the world, through worship, ministry, mission, prayer, education and community service.

- other disadvantage through supporting organisations or agencies involved in the relief of poverty or other social needs and the promotion of social justice.

## **Activities**

- Normally the Church offers worship each week, with special services held at other times in the year, including Easter, Christmas, and Harvest Thanksgiving;

- The Minister is available to conduct funerals, weddings and baptisms for both Church members and non members.  He/She is involved in regular pastoral visitation to members and the wider community;

- The church offers, and encourages the use of, it’s premises by other charities and community groups

## Achievements

##

- The church normally offers worship on a weekly basis, although in the course of the year (usually during the summer at Christmas time) we sometimes join with other churches in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline for shared services, some of which are hosted in our building.

- The minister offers communion to Church Members who are resident in care homes or are housebound.

##

- Our halls and other facilities are available for use by wider community groups, and use is slowly increasing as people become aware of this.

- Members of the congregation continue to support other charitable activities, including Fife Gingerbread, the Cottage Family Centre, Kirkcaldy Foodbank and Linton Lane community centre.

## Finance

## **Review of results**

Our regular source of income continues to be the weekly offerings by the members of the Church. Membership is roughly the same as the previous year and people continue to give regularly and faithfully to support the work of the Church.

We maximise Tax Recovery from Gift Aid on offerings and donations, and we get some income from letting our halls where we can do so.

2

best to control usage of, and therefore costs, of electricity.

## **Reserves Policy**

The Trustees continue to review our Reserves Policy. This looks at the current situation including risks and responsibilities. We seek to maintain:

- Full year’ running costs (including stipend etc.);

- Building maintenance costs;

- Sufficient to cover potential costs should emergency repairs to the building be required.

## **Risk Assessment and looking forward**

The Trustees consider that our current level of funds will enable the Church to continue to operate at the present level for a number of years to come.

## **Independent Examiners’ Report to the Trustees of Kirkcaldy Congregational Church (SC002321)**

We report on the accounts of the charity for the period of **1[st] April 2024** to **31[st] March 2025** which are set out on pages 6-10.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of regulation 10(1) (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is our responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to our attention.

## **Basis of independent examiners’ statement**

Our examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## **Independent examiners’ statement**

In the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

1. Which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

- To keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations

- To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or

2. To which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
