Al-Mahdi Foundation (AMF) was established in April 1986. It is a charity registered with OSCR (SC002123). Since then, it has provided religious services to the community, availing its premises for various community activities, including education, language/Quran classes, cultural events, etc. AMF mainly serves the Shi'a Muslim community of Glasgow from diverse backgrounds (including Iranian, Pakistani, Afghani, Arab, Indian, and other ethnicities). Currently average congregation size for ordinary weekly events is circa 120, including women and children. However, it works with wider Muslim communities of Scotland. Daily (mid-day and evening prayers as well as regular weekly events (on Tuesday and Thursday evenings) as well as special religious events (such as Ramadhan, Muharram birth & death anniversaries of Prophet and Imams, Eid events as well as quran khwani and other religious ceremonies. We also plan to start offer Friday prayers and Funeral services soon.

Objectives: The aims of the Congregation are inter alia: (a) to provide a place of worship with Clergyman. (b ) to provide a place for Muslim religious education and staff the same. (c) to provide a place for secular education in a religious environment and staff the same. (d) to fund the foregoing from the generosity of the Congregation (e) to fund charitable purposes including the setting up of charitable trusts for the widows and orphans and destitute families of members of the Congregation and others. (f) To work for the religious unity of Islam and better understanding among all religions. (g) to use all means reasonable for the betterment of the Congregation its members and their families and their religious, educational and charitable needs and desires and generally to expand the influence of Islam as a religious way of life.
