Governance and Management Govoming Document The Church is administered in acclanCe vath a unitary c¥nstitukn(. Recruitmenl and Appointment of Trustees Members of the Kirk Session are the Larity tnjstees. The 'rk Session members are the elders of the churth and are chosen from th05e members of the thurch vtho are considered to have the appropriate gifts and skills. The minister, is a member of the lfjrk Session, is elected by the congregation and inducted by Presbytery. Organisational Struclure The Kirk Session meets as necessary arKI is respOble for the spiritual and financial affairs wthin the church. It is thaired by the Minister. Objectives and Activities The Church of Sc¥)tland is Trinitarian in doctrrne. Refomied in tradrtion and Presby1erian in Folity. It exists to glorify and to work for the advancement of Christ's lfj"ngdom throughout the world. As a national Church. it acknowledge$ a distinctive call and duty to bring the cdinan¢es of religion lo the people in every parish of Scotland through a terrttorial ministy. It ctroperates wth other Churches in various ecumenical bodies in Scotland and beyond. Services are nomialty held every Sunday in Slckn unless the is a reason for a United SeNice in one of the other churches in the charge. Services are held in Drurneter at Christmas. Easter and one or other times, and it remains open for weddings arKI funerals. Financial Revi8w The main source of income is Donakn'ons (20 peT cent up on last year at £9,641) and weekly offerings (also up 20 per cent at £ 69081. Both qualrfy for Grft Aid for whith £3.928 was redaimed in the year. Income from Investments increased to £6,512 The aCjnts shcw a deficit of £6504 compared to a surplus of £1.811 last year. This signrficant change was mainly due to three factors. M & M {now called Give to Grow} increased by £4000 from a rather low figure in 2023, TheElectricity usage was up £3,000. and expendtture on Fabri¢ increased by £4.400 due to the installation of a toilet behind the Vestry {first mooted in 20171 and improvements to the Sound system. Ajso a lot of dectrical WJfk was carried out following the electrical survey last year. Achievements ans Perforniance The monthly Coffee Mornings in Slckn Village Hall remain the main avenue of reaching out to the wder community. The Church has supported the Peeblesshire Fooj Bank during the year by both a monthly donation and d¢Jnations received at the Coffee Moming5. £1,844 wa5 given during the year bringiThJ the total given since we started supwrt to £7.401 The Church also supwrted a weekly Skills Share Group in Peebles al a net cost of £2,271 in the year. (This expenditure wll not continue in 2025 due to a generous grant to Skill .qhar* hv qRP. Reserves The Kirk Session tries to hokl in reseNe sufficient monies to pay for immediate serious repairs.
