Report of the Trustees for the Period Ended 31 March 2024

The trustees present their report and accounts of Armadale Community Education Association (ACEA) for the year to 31 March 2024. These have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Statement of Recommended Practice Accounting and Reporting by Charities (March 2005).

Structure, Governance and Management

Armadale Community Education Association is a registered charity (Scottish Charity No. SC001801).

It is a voluntary organisation directed by West Lothian Council. A committee is appointed at an AGM or EGM by the members of the centre.

Objectives and Activities

To advance education and to provide, or assist in the provision of, facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, where such provision is in the interest of Social Welfare and is made with the object of improving the conditions of the life of the members of the community in the area; and for those purposes to associate with West Lothian Council, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in the area.

The main activity of the charity is to run a community centre.

Financing

Finance review

The reserves held as at 31st March 2025 were £63,673. Of these reserves £4,911 is held for various groups and clubs. The balance of the funds, £58,762 are unrestricted and to be applied to further the aims of the charity.

These reserves are held in order that the charity can continue to provide a modern and comfortable centre serving the needs of the community now and in the future.

The members of the board would like to thank all those who contribute their time and energy in order that ACEA can provide the services that it does.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts

As independent examiner | report to the trustees of Armadale Community Education Association, registered charity no SC001801, on the accounts of the charity for the period 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024, as set out on pages 6 & 7.

Respective Responsibilities of Directors and Auditors

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of Independent Examiners Statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, | do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention.

  1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: a) To keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

  2. b) To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations

have not been met, or

  1. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding
