## Activities

**Activities:** 'It carries out activities or services itself'

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of education','the advancement of citizenship or community development','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended'

**What the charity does:** The charity is set up to run/maintain the community centre. Residents gather in the centre to socialise & it is a venue for all five Community Groups for meetings & events. It provides hall & kitchen spaces for the Primary School for PE, cooking & other lessons, & is an alternative venue when the Primary School has to shut for repairs. When older residents & families join in activities at the Centre it helps others to get an idea of their general health, & if they need any support. Gathering as a community in a shared space promotes cohesion, assists health & well-being, a key aim for the charity. This enables us to identify the shared challenges Scoraig faces as a coastal community & how the community together can adapt to economic changes, climate damage & changing weather patterns. The charity has undertaken a major refurbishment project to refurbish & modernise the building - a valued community asset - & to improve its energy performance towards minimal carbon emissions.
