Archiestown Village Council
Trustee Annual Report & Accounts for year ended 31 August 2024
Scottish charity number SC001696
Governing Document
The council is an unincorporated association whose purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.
Charitable Purposes
Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution, are to alleviate poverty and to promote the well being, education and advancement of all residents of Archiestown and District and to foster community spirit.
Activities & Achievements
Our activities centre around raising funds to maintain the hall, pavilion and playing field, and to keep these facilities running for the benefit of residents. We have fostered good relations with local business and wind farms, other local settlements, we hold multiple fundraising events during the year to raise funds which pay for the village council’s ongoing costs, including Christmas celebrations and a party and presents for all children of primary school age. In addition, all residents over the age of 60 are invited to a Christmas Lunch event incl light entertainment. We have resumed running our popular Hogmanay Ceilidh and income from hall lettings and business links subsidises this event.
Following the Covid pandemic a return to our normal calendar of activities has been mostly possible. Unfortunately, the Fete was again cancelled in summer 2024 due to a clash with a large anniversary event in Rothes.
We have seen an increase in hall lets and fundraisers over the last year and along with our windfarm funding we use the receipts to fund hall repairs/maintenance.
As a point of principle, the village hall is provided free of charge for funeral teas for members of the village who have sadly passed away, this is aligned to our aims as per the constitution.
The village council held several events throughout the year e.g. whisky tasting, gin tasting, quizzes and pub nights - all supporting the village council funds and fostering community spirit per our Aims and Objectives.
The project on the village playing fields continued – albeit at a slower pace due to the committees’ time being spent on other matters. The committee are confident that the Playing Field project and Hall Improvements will accelerate during 2025 and beyond. The community has been engaged at each stage including an online survey and our project teams are currently working on funding sources.
Our Gardening Group continues to make a difference to the village’s appearance, and we’ve enjoyed constructive feedback from the It’s Your Neighbourhood organisation which continued to support the group.
Trustee Remuneration & Expenses
The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.
Reserves
There was a surplus of income over expenditure of £8459 at the end of the financial year.
The treasurers account stood at £31,456 and a cash float of £731. The National Savings Investment account stands at £102.
We continue to receive RHI (Renewable heat incentive) payments since our hall and boiler renovation, and this year received however with rising costs of all fuel types this did not cover the full cost of pellets for the boiler.
Approved by the trustees & signed on their behalf.
