The objects of the charity are to promote and encourage the study, practice and knowledge of the art of music in the Rhins of Galloway and other educational and cultural purposes connected therewith .The charity arranges to have concerts in the town of Stranraer with professional musicians mainly based in Scotland. While there is a variety of music performed it is mainly classical. Normally five concerts are held each year and in additional there is an annual Children's Workshop in the local theatre when a capacity audience of 300 children and accompanying adults attend. Grant funding is provided by Chamber Music Scotland and further funding is obtained to help with the cost of the Children's Workshop.
