Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees
All of the Hall’s trustees are appointed or reappointed at our annual general meeting which is held in November each year.
Governing Document
The Hall is a charitable unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.
Charitable Purposes
As set out in our constitution, the Hall is run to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Dyke and District by providing facilities for meetings, clubs, classes, education and other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation.
Activities and Achievements
The Committee has undergone quite a change since last year with several new members and office bearers. The committee has decided to attempt to extend the hall and plans have been submitted to Moray Council for an extension to the Hall. Copies of the plans have been shared at the AGM. An engineering company will dig and check for draining. If all goes to plan and the plans are approved the committee will look for funding.
The extension would provide space for another meeting area, much needed storage and room for a plant room as the heating system will need to be updated. We are excited about the prospect of improving our facility and future proofing it.
The committee have staged a number of fundraising events and taken on roles to ensure the hall can operate smoothly. The fundraising events held by the committee are vital to the Hall. These funds have paid for any necessary upkeep and for the services of an architect and engineers. Income is also generated from hall bookings and regular users such as Pre School, Moray Flying Circus, Bite & Blether, Tail Talks, Table Tennis. A new Boxercise class has just started and has proved to be very popular. The Pre School have extensive use of Hall and have recently extended their services to an after-school club and Parent and Toddler group.The Pre School Manager has now got her own dedicated office space. The Hall is also used for parties, funeral teas, Election purposes, school and Church events. A recent RAF Concert was a joint effort run by the Hall Committee, Community Council and Church to raise funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the Defibs. The hall provides an important role in our community and the present committee is keen to make the changes necessary to ensure its future use and expansion.
Treasurer and finances
Towards the end of the year our Treasurer resigned. A draft report was presented to the AGM. All members were given copy of balance sheet as it stands. These took a while to get checked, audited and signed off. This has been completed. The balance at the end of our financial year was: £32,895.49 This is very positive as there has been a number of large expenses. Income is from three main sources: Pre School – the largest Moray Flying Circus continues to provide a regular income All other lets – fundraising and Bite and Blether, Tail Talk, Table tennis, yoga, boxercise and a veterans tribe group. Main spend was front door - £6155 – which had to be replaced as it was no longer secure. Architect fees and Moray Council fees Heating Oil has come down in last year £15000 has now been invested in a business account.
To sum up we are in a positive position to move forward with our plans. There are some funds to help progress the extension, a hardworking committee who are keen to secure everything we need to secure the hall for the future so it can sustain itself and be a better place for our community and users
